seriously. where are all the peeps who said they were gonna do this and post pics? im interested, but only have 1 persons word on it! so this insulating stuff is lighter than dynomat? i know its def cheaper! i was thinking about doing my coupe's interior flooring with the cheap stuff and the doors with dynomat. has anyone else done this? and im wondering if insulating the trunk is a must if youre not gonna be rocking out subs?

Yeah so I was actually going to Dynamat my car next week.. I don't care about price, it doesn't matter to me. I want the best for my system. I'm putting 2 12s in my trunk next week and I want it to sound the best it possibly can. Anyone on here used Dynamat?

you should try using some industrial grade aluminum foil to cover the foam, it will further dampen it, just use some foam spray mount, then maybe spray mount the foam directly onto whatever surface so it takes the shape and also dampens out any rattles too. and use some aluminum tape for the seams. I've used the foil method with neoprene foam sheets before and works great, i might do i double layerd pad.

great post! I'll be trying out your ideas with a few modifications gere and there soon, i'll post some pics soon.

I went to home depot and bought aluminum tape and 8lb carpet padding that already has the water and mold treatment. However, when i asked about the aluminum foil no one knew what i was talking about. where did you get it?
I'm also doing this to help with rattles from subwoofer, so i might double it up.

Thx!

I have a 06 lx sedan and i have a rockford fosgate P400.2 pushing a rockford fosgate P2 12" and I just did the DIY ( i'll take pics later) I used 6lb carpet paidding i got 30sq ft for less than 9$ from a carpet wholesaler locally...i put it in the rear floor under the carpet.. under the back seat..the back deck as well as weather stripping and the trunk....and boy it helps...absoluty no raddle at all and its a very noticable difference...defintly work the cheap price of about 15$ vs the price of other deadner's...I havent ever heard any of the other products but in my opinion u cant beat the price and quality of just using carpet padding....just my opinion

yeah it's about a 1/2 inch thick, it makes the lining in the trunk a little bloated and it's a little tricky to get it all together, but i don't notice it anymore really. the road noise is a lot less but this is coming from the trunk.
i majority of road noise is coming from the doors and the front area i think, so while this deadens the rear, finding a cheap way to deaden the doors and front would be better.

hmm
well 1/2 inch will work fine for me in the trunk, and under the rear decklid.. heh rattles like a b****
i'm gonna see about getting 1/4 inch for under my interior carpet
and find something to deaden the doors and anything else that may be allowing unwanted noise in my car
