Here's my "Do-It-Yourself" install of PAC Steering Wheel Interface for an aftermarket headunit.
Materials & Tools - PAC SWI-PS (for Pioneer and Sony headunits with Wired Remote Input) - Electrical tape - Wire Stripper/Crimper - 5100 ohm or 5.1 K ohm resistor *green-brown-red-gold order color* (included in the package) - Extra Ground wire - T-Taps or Wire Splicer Just follow the Diagrams and Picture in connecting the wires. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you have questions about the install just PM me. Thanks to Jza & Quality_Sound for the info. Last edited by kicker_jace; 11-15-2007 at 10:20 PM. |

If you connect the PAC's black wire to the brown wire on the harness, is that sufficient kicker? Or does the PAC black wire and the harness brown wire have to be connected to another different ground wire, like the one in the radio harness. Let me know if you don't understand what I mean.
I thought the brown wire in the harness was a ground wire. Your diagram doesn't exactly say PAC black wire to harness brown, it just says each of them go to ground. It'd be cleaner if black to brown and you're done. Just don't want to tie those 2 wires to the black wire in the radio harness if I do not have to. Nice DIY sir, stop giving me credit, I don't know what the hell I'm doing. |

As long as the brown wire (from Honda harness) and the Black (PAC interface wire) are both grounded then your good to go. |

Ok that's what I meant... So the brown wire isn't a ground, it's a function wire. After the brown wire hooks up to the pac black wire, they still need a chassis ground wire which I'll find in my radio harness. That makes it clear. Thanks for figuring it all out for me kicker. I'll use the same resistor as you.. Seems that one worked for more people and going with the 3900 one seems more rare.
So that red wire you have connected to the brown wire in your picture, is going to the ground in your radio harness where it also meets up with the PAC's black ground wire. That extra red wire might throw some people off. |

rate? the hardness? if so ill rate it 3 (in my opinion)
it really depends... i've been doing radio installs and electrical installs for a while now. so experience will help you make this easier. it took me less than an hour to install. programming was easy too just have to read the instructions carefully. |
