uhmm it should be the same.

the delay is not bad. just need to press the controls like 1.25 sec. lol

I have a 2008 EX and the SWI-PS. I can't get the mode button programmed. I tried this config here and it didn't work. Pac-audio's website has a different config for 2008 civics than for 2007 (which is the one shown here). Once I followed the 2008 instructions, all worked except Mode. Pac-audio people aren't very useful. Any ideas on what to do to get the Mode button working? Should I try the 3900 resistor?

I'm stuck while programming ...

I follow both instructions (Pac website & this DIY) ... connections seems fine (coz RED light is blinking), but I can't programm this unit,
after pressing the program button , after 4/5 seconds light turn off & then if blink 3 times twice means programming end WITH NO PROGRAMING AT ALL.

now pac tech. support is close for the weekend ... please help

its SWI-Jack, Kenwood X692 on Civic Si 08 coupe.

yo whizy i just did the install its easy man its 12 39 am in jersey where i am basically the harness that your working with is the one thats not hooked up meaning the extra harness that was used on the stock is where the pink wire is located also cut the brown off there as well and ground it. you will need to use a resistor to get the mode button to work once u do the first part of programing it to version three turn the car off and then turn back on it should blink three times if your stuck at that part what u do is u gotta have the switch on the side on version three then press the program button 3 times about 4 secs apart then let it sit it will blink 3 times. now what u do for programing the radio is change the nob on the side to the version of the radio u have example i have clarion so i used 4 so which ever kenwood is do that and once thats done press the program button it will light up then follow the sequence in the instructions meaning like vol up vol down ect ect ... and then when done let it sit and oh if theres a button that u dont have listed hit the program button and it will skip over it once complete let it sit it will cycle through and then your good to go man i kno i didnt use any periods but hey this isnt english class and i got my degree already lol pm if any other questions.

I've had issues with this thing ever since I installed it last year.

When the temperature outside is real warm(85+) the thing acts up and song up button will do song down instead. Vol up will do vol down and mode(silent button) will black the screen out.

100% of the time the vol. down button NEVER works anymore.

Anyone have these kinds of problems? I have the Pioneer 4000DVD. I'm sure the PAC unit is the root of the problem, but WHY?

I have a 2007 EX with the 5100 ohm resistor.

Very frustrating.

Finished installing just now. This was a great help in finding the right wires. Programming took a few tries, but got it to work. I have the new one, which works even with the AVH series pioneers (I have P4000DVD), and there seems to be little to no lag at all. It's not 1.25 sec, but more like .25 sec.....I think this is a great addition.

Nope...just tapped and soldered. That wouldn't really be worth it when tapping is so easy...

In the steering wheel or behind the Head Unit in the dash? I got the old version that lags already installed by the stereo shop and I just got the new version that doesn;t lag and I want to switch it out myself. any help will be awesome! thanks!

You hook it up behind the headunit. However, since space is tight back there, it is conceivable that the install shop ran the wires to under the steering wheel or something...probably not though. I got mine to fit behind the headunit, but just barely. I made a mess back there...

Also on another note, my unit acts up in extreme cold and extreme hot conditions. If the car is really hot/cold, the buttons on the steering wheel do weird things. I noticed though that they always change functions to the same weird ones depending on hot or cold. I wonder if it's because the unit is really sensitive to the resistance...Maybe the resistor value changes a little with temp, but it's enough to make the unit act up...

Resistor for this install

I had to purchase like 100 of these to get one for my PAC install in my civic. I was moving it from a pontiac to a civic and I have no idea where the originals went. Anyway, if you are like me and need just one but don't want to pay for a stack of these like I did let me know. For 2 bucks, paypal prefered, I will put 5 in an envelop and get them out to you. Send me a PM if you need/want some.

- 5100 ohm or 5.1 K ohm resistor *green-brown-red-gold order color*

Sorry to post this here but it seems appropriate for those looking to do the PAC install and might need one of these.

Also, on my install I only needed the resistor to get the mode button on the wheel to work (which I programed to serve as a mute function) the other buttons worked with my head unit without the resistor.

hey fellas ok i had this for about a year or so now and i kno about the delay but i have some break through news ...... i order hondata's flash pro and did a flash and basically i believe because im resetting the ecu with the pac steering wheel device connected that the ecu no longer fights the interface my pac swd works all the time on time not saying to buy the flashpro for this but its great for performance and it helps get rid of the delay which i dont think hondata had any idea it would do this but im happy.. no more lifting my hand to lower the volume lol
