Center Console removal for Aux input install
Sorry about any lack of clarity this is my first write up ever. I dont actually have the part do complete the instalation but someone had asked about how hard it was so here you go: (this is based on my lx 5spd sedan but it should be pretty much the same for everyone)
![]() Pull down on the top of the boot that connects to the shifter it just snaps in place, then unscrew the shift knob. ![]() Pull in the circled areas starting on the right to remove the part around the shifter. ![]() Pull starting at the bottom and working up the panel towards the stereo, I marked the approximate locations of the clips in green for reference. ![]() ![]() The plug that the aux input connects to. ![]() The bottom of the console is already marked for where to drill. After that its all in the instructions for the aux input install you can get online, this was just to help clarify how to get the console apart. |

Would you mind doing something really nice that might save some people some $$ for this little adaptor. I'm planning on installing my XM radio permanently in my Civic. Doing so, I want to plug it in the Aux input instead of using the RF signal. So, what would be nice is to have someone check the pinout of this little white connector. You just need to check which wire goes with which 1/8 Left/Right/Gnd. That would make people save in the 50$ US...
Thanks

I figured it out
Hey I guess I was able to answer my own question. I was over looking the hole the thing. Basically the the whole console just pops out. Just push inward but make sure you don't use to much force and pop the tabs. Everything else is basically like the pictures in this tread... My installation was not the cleanest (I couldn't get two of the screws to line up with the screw holes) on the inside but it looks professional on the outside. Sound quality is great on my IPod...much better than I expected.

Also, this can't be used on the DX...the DX wiring harness does not have the connector (as it doesn't have a stereo either). |

Thank you for this useful post.
In my car, I had the "cup holders get hot" issue and had to take this same console off to fix the seperated heater ducts. (The ducts in the pics in this post are mated properly--but in some of our cars they are seperated.) Anyway, to remove the shifter console in an automatic transmistion car, put the car in drive-D-to center the shifter over the metalic-looking, plastic trim ring you'll be removing: You can pop off that metal-looking, plastic trim ring around the AT shifter by getting your fingernails under its edges and lifting straight up. Then, again with your fingernails, start at the back of the black, plastic console and lift straight up, working from the back, towards the dashboard/stereo. Work it off slowly and soon you'll see the aux. plug (and heater ducts). Regards, Glenn in CT |

Hi there, here in mexico the EX model, as mine doesn't come with the aux jack, so i'm planing to install it but I need to know the part number to order it back in the dealership, 'cause they couldnt find it as the part doesn't come with the EX model. I'm hoping that the wire harness is inside. So if you could help me telling me the part number and what do I need to install it all.
Thanks form Mex |
