Sedan Rear Deck Removal
I was doing this to put weather stripping under there to stop the rattling from my sub
-First, remove the seat cushion. Then remove the shoulder cushion things. -Then remove this thing on the C-Pillar using a flat head screwdriver to pry it out. It's easy. ![]() -Then start pulling on the panel that says AirBag. Dont worry, the airbag wont deploy. And you get this ![]() -There are 3 red clips and 1 white clip. The red clips are easy, just pull. The 1 white clip is the hard one to get out. It's the clip thats going to be closest to you. I ended up using pliers and using it for leverage against the weather stripping of the door. Be careful, I ended up bending the sheet metal where the white clip was connected to and the white clip didnt stay in when putting it back. I just used the pliers again, and bent it back. This is what it looks like. ![]() ![]() -Do the same to the other side. -Go into the trunk and you'll see little white clips up top. Use pliers and squeeze them slightly and push up at the same time to release them. -Now to remove the rear deck. Push up, or hit up with a mallet under the indentations you see in the picture. ![]() -Lift up and pull out rear deck ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks to Jstone624 Rear deck rattle - 8th Generation Honda Civic Forum Unlike him, i did not buy new clips, my red ones were perfect, my white ones were chipped but still went back in. FYI- Honda's actual method for removing this white fastener is to whack the trim piece with a rubber mallet (really!) directly over the fastener. This causes the expandable piece of the fastener to contract, kind of like an expansion anchor for drywall. I just did it- it pops right out. Thanks for the DIY, ansdragonboii!

The rubber mallet was PERFECT. It popped right out after a few gentle taps of increasing force. Overall, it was pretty easy, a bit of grunt work in looking for the bolts. I used the handle end of the rubber mallet to push up the clips from the trunk, since using pliers or a vice grip could bend the plastic. They push up VERY easily. Once it's all off, remember to tighten those screws on the stock speakers.
Note: I got rid of all my rattles today. Awesome. |

i finished putting the weather strips in. i had to use more force than i thought i would need but i got it done. all i messed up on was i broke the silver clip on the tail light, its some really cheap plastic so you have to be really careful with it.

Rear speaker mods
My gf has a 06 ex sedan and I just installed some Infinity Kappa 12" subs. They put off so much freaking pressure that the rear speakers have busted from being forced to flex outward to far. I'm sure there’s a proper term for it but I don’t know it. She just got some infinity 5.25" components to replace them but I'm not putting them in until I can either build a fiberglass baffle or get a baffle online. I'm fonder of fiberglass than plastic, I've worked with it a lot and I think it makes the sounds much tighter than that thin plastic crap they sell Best Buy. However, I am not so sure about the foam baffles I've been seeing online these days. I know they are supposed to be great for doors but I am more worried about them "giving into" the pressure of the 2 12's. Should I DIY a fiberglass one or would the foam ones be sufficient. They are fairly cheap, but I do have extra resin and fiberglass mat lying around too. Really I just don’t want her to have wasted almost $300 on a pair of speakers for the woofers to bust them, that’s why I’m hesitant of the foam. If anyone has any experience with this I would greatly appreciate a little input. Thanks!
