Don't know what you did but I never had a problem. Did you disconnect the battery? Sound as if you shorted out just about everything....

Nothing to do with the HIDs hu.

Try the dealer where you got the car... Where are you from would help. There is a dealer on ebay that has a package deal listed last time I was on there.

You need to replace part of the dashboard, this will give you the ability to add any after market radio.

Read this link

It has the part list you need.

ok, i just read every post in this thread and i still have a question.

In the first posts, made a year ago, to hook up the deck, you'd have to splice/solder wires. I was wary of this, because i didn't want to cut my wires in case i ever wanted to go back to stock.

I just looked over on crutchfield, and they had wire harnesses for the 06 civic's, (I have an LX coupe). I'm wondering which ones I should get since there seems to be several.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-zvoPy2q...00&I=120701722
i think this is the wire harness

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-zvoPy2q...00&I=12040HD10
and that is the antenna adapter

In my last car, (mercedes c class) i had my system installed "professionally" and i lost a shit load of features in my car, like, heater, ac, and most of all radio reception. now i'm hoping that since this is a honda, it should be much more simple then a mercedes and by using the harness i won't lose anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

You would need both harnesses if you intend to utilize the Honda antenna for your radio reception.

My experience with professional installation services is that they tend to cut and splice, forgoing the expense of custom adapters (which you have to splice to the new head unit harness anyways). The Crutchfield adapters have always worked well for me, and the only limitations I have experienced are ones which aren't terribly important, such as dimming the radio lights along with the rest of the dashboard (which is a limitation of the head unit, not necessarily that of the harness or vehicle).

What are you talking about? ECU idel relearn. The only thing it could mess with is the auto up and down on the drivers side window. I don't know what some of you guys are doing to your cars but if you don't know how to do electrical work on a car, Get some help form someone that dose...

i know it sounds werid but its like this a mech that is my dads friend are same age so he has more then 30 ish years in experice in cars from classics to modern to future cars , now he installed my aem cai but skipped the part where it says to remove the battery , it caused a cel light after 2 days so i assumed it was because he skiped the part about removing the battery so it can reset the a/f ratio and learn the new a/f with the upgrade intake.

now here is where this comes in play with this thread , he said that you should try to avoild to remove the battery from the car (06 civic) reason why because the eletricle can get reset and therefore you have to re prgram the car step by step . now im skeptical about this since hes the only one i heard this from . reason why im saying this is because when anyone does a radio/ car sound system upgrdae you have to remove the battery so im consern right there , alonge with that im gonna have to unplug the battery as well when the exhaust system (magnaflow) comes in the future.....

so what is our input? as far as this thread goes i would like to ask a few quesitons , i have the 7 spkr and sub combo no navi

and i would like to install my kicker zx1500.1 mono amp ( for subs) with my L5

i also want to install a kicker zx850.4 (4 channel amp) with upgrade speakers....

now i was told that my car is equipt with a stock amp and i have to turn it off before the install of the 4 channel amp (that is if i want keep stock radio)

now what do i need to do so i can install first just the subs and my mono amp?

Very nice DIY by the way!
i want to do this too , i want to foreget about the damn stock amp and its stock spkrs and its stock sub , and i wanna install a new stereo and amps ...

so now i just unplug the 2 connectors that are on the amp and that it ? or do those 2 connectors that are on the amp must be connected towards the new stereo? like this unplug amp wire kit > goes to a wire harnes here < ___ and plugs to the new aftermarket stereo???

Sorry if this has already been asked I am too impatient to read 16 pages of responses. But if you install an after market radio can you still use the controls on the steering wheel to change volume, songs, etc?

you'll loose thos funtions but you can get them back with a device and you can change it to be something better so insted of cancel you can put that to be your section for adjusting sound like toggle between bass / treble etc etc

The picture of connector #1, pin #5 is listed as Tel. Could that be a telephone mute? Can I retro fit a harness and tap the line to use it as a mute for my bluetooth car kit? The motorola ihf1000 has the ability to mute radio when a car is in session but the stock radio has not mute wire. Does it have a telephone mute function though? I know the stock navi can mute while giving directions.

screws holding in factory radio

... i just did this install myself too.

... should point out that the 2 screws in underneath the "ashtray" area (hidden by the flap you removed), face DOWN. they are what anchor the factory deck to the car. I had to use a thick, nobby srewdriver with a thick handle to take them out so the screws didn't strip. A 5" screwdriver should suffice. Mine were in VERY tight. IF you can't see them, you should be able to find them with your fingers.

To aid with the removal of the centre console and radio (on piece) , it helped when I reached up behind the radio and pushed it out with one hand while pulling it out from the front with the other.

I'm going to be digging into my 07' Sedan SI ..... Does anyone know or have any idea on what pin-out diagram would be correct? I see a couple posted but would ideally love to avoid performing a "pin-out" to find the correct wires.

Thanks to all in advance! ...........
