I asked in another thread, but does anyone know if 77250-SNA-A01ZA(the new center panel in black) comes in the same silver color as the Gauge Trim Kit? I see there is a part number 77250-SNA-A01ZC that has a very similar name to 77250-SNA-A01ZA and 77250-SNA-A01ZB, but costs twice as much. Any ideas?

Im about to do an install like this and have two questions. I would assume that if you have the stock tweeters on the dash that they will still work after putting a new radio in? Also, I notice that the factory harness has two wires for the dimmer, will I only need to connect the positive wire (gray with silver stripe) to make the dimmer function of my aftermarket radio work? I ask since the aftermarket radio will only have one wire to connect the dimmer.
Thanks |

GREAT write up!! I plan to install a deck very soon, however I am an audio installer and have a few questions. Are the door/deck/tweeters amplified? Is just the sub amplified? I have a 06 Si, and want to make sure that when I connect an aftermarket deck, that it will sound good. With many newer cars with premium sound (bose, infinity, etc) you cannot just tap onto the wires. You need to run new wires to the speakers as they are already amplified and the internal amp in a CD player/TV makes for some terrible sound. Or is does the factory radio provide power just like an aftermarket cd player?
Second question, is the only wire you use off plug 2 the remote amp turn on wire? Finally, does the AUX jack still work with aftermarket headunits? I love the ipod! Again thanks for the write up and time you spent making this easier for all of us! |

The tweeters wireing runs out of the factory amp and the same goes for the factory sub. So if you hookup the wires the way I did, all the speakers will work just fine. Q#1 all speakers were ran through the factory amp.
Q#2 Yes that was the only wire I used off plug #2. Q#3 No the aux jack dose not work. I have thought adout taping into the jack with a set of RCA cabels. Just A THOUGHT... Someone asked about dimmer conection, most HU do not dim like the factory units (all the way to Blacked out), they only dim to a preset % to take the edege off the brightness. You will have to see what your HU calls for to hook it up. |

what was the system that came with the car?
Howdy,
xtv-sidecar: Thanks a for all the effort in posting that 'tutorial'! Great work and well appreciated by many - myself included. It gives me inspiration and confidence. One thing I did not get from your post, and would like your and other peoples' opinions on is the stock audio and upgrades available from Honda (dealer installs I assume?) What system came with your car? Did you have any upgrades installed (i.e. the "bass speaker upgrade") I want a good sounding system that plays music (duh.) What I mean is, I don't really care for snazzy graphics on the HU display. I don't wan to watch DVD's while I drive... I like the fact that the factory HU has an MP3 player. Does that mean I can fill up a CD w/ MP3's and with one disc have hours of music? (maybe saving me the $$ of a CD changer?) I look forward to hearing whatever you all think about the factory hardware. Thanks for reading... bearsfeat |

Bearsfeat,
The stock radio was the XM ready unit with 7 skeakers (tweets up front, 6" in the doors, 6" in the rear deck shelf with 1 - 8" sub also in the rear deck shelf). This stock radio will play MP3s, so yes you can load up your cds. It also has a input jack (headphone style) that you can hook up your IPOD style MP3 player, but just sound will come through, no titles/artist. I did not get any upgrades, XM receiver/bass system, nothing. The stock radio is great for someone who just listens to music, As for me, I wanted more bass and better quality/control sound. I want to do a compleat system Amps, compontets maybe for show but not comp. I am still looking for all the right parts I may want. Note on the factory bass upgrade, it would replace the 2 - 6" in the back deck shelf and I dout that would sound to good. IMO. Hope that answered 1 question for you. |
