The way I understand it is that all of the buttons on the steering wheel controls actual send some kind of code through 1 wire. The problem is that all the manufacturers have there own code for each of the buttons. The PAC SWI converts the code to work with your after market unit, whatever it may be.

I tried to hook up my Eclipse HU directly to the factory steering wheel controls and pressing up volume would change inputs and channel down would turn up the volume. That kind of thing.

Also you could call or email product support of your after-market HU and see if they can help you out. What HU do you have?

well I got the factory faceplate installed, and wouldn't you know it, it's too light in color too! So apparently honda either has crappy control of the painting process, or the cars with NAV have a slightly different interior panel color. I don't get it; one would expect all of the cars in the same model with the same interior color (Gray) to have the exact same plastic color on the dash. This is Totally Weak. Now I might have to dig deeper and order the Gage panel cover to try and get a color match, because it is just completely annoying to see the different colors where the two parts meet.

Any ideas as to WTH is going on here?

Depends on your skills. I'd say if you can install a radio, no sweat.

Yes. You'll need to buy the Navi dash kit and brackets from the Navi Model Honda. Pretty sure the part numbers are in the beginning of this thread somewhere.

there are no real clips to "pry" out... in a way u are popping them out... start from the cluster panel then move ur way to the headunit panel... the cluster panel should come out as one and the headunit panel as another...
