I'm planning on installing my Eclipse AVN 5435 in my 08 coupe Ex. I have a pretty good understanding about how to wire it up, but the only part that is a little fuzzy is how the factory sub works because I don't see any additional wires for it. Will it still work? and if so, does it still have a seperate adjustment or does it just adjust with the EQ on the AVN?

Thanks!

Must say this is a very nice DIY. I took the time to actually read this, the pictures really helped and after 2 hours of screwing around trying to figure out how the deck properley fit in, i got her done. Im running JVC's Double Din and it's a nice deck i must say. Only problem i had with the whole situation is where i have the 07 EX, i couldn't get power to my stock amp but then i reread your post and figured it out quite easiley.

10/10 from me

Very nice guide... but am I the only one who had problems getting the 2 damn screws up under the pocket out to remove the dash piece? Looks like I rounded one of them a bit - damnit! Anyone got any advice? Those screws are in there pretty damn tight.

Yeah, I ended up using a short philips head screw driver and I applied pressure with my hand to securely seat the screwdriver. Then I used a medium sized pair of pliars to turn the screw driver. Glad I'm done with my install. Sheeesh.

Don't know about other models or years (I've got an 08 LX) but when I went in to Honda today for an oil change I asked the mechanic about the 2 screws under the dash pocket - he told me a screwdriver wasn't gonna cut it and I could use an 8mm socket with extension. Worked like a champ and made life A LOT easier.

They both work just fine.

Need Help

I have the 08 civic si mugen. And im wiring a pioneer nav into the dash. I connected all the wires to connector one, but left connector two untouched because i would like not to splice any of the stock harness. I need help b/c it wouldn't power on and i believe its because of connector 2 not being connected.

All your speaker wires are running to the factory amp and you must power that up to get any sound unless you use the amp bypass harness.

To power up the amp you will need to connect the remote wire just like any aftermarket amp. The wire to do that is the #15 / Factory AMP Power control wire Lt.Blue with silver stripe on the second connector. If you do not wand to cut it the use a T-tap connector. If you ever go back to stock you can just pull the T-tap off and tape the small part of the wire that the sheathing was tapped through.

If you have every thing connected on the 1st connector then it should be powering up the navi/hu just no sound so it sounds like something is not connected properly.

^ No not yet. In the 08's if you attempt to remove the radio, it disables the engine and no one has figured out how to get around it. There is some poor guy around here with a radioless Si who's car hasn't worked for months.

For real!?!?!? No way? How could it be? What makes it different from any other 8th Si OEM? Just a Premium Sound head plugged into the factory Amp isn't it?

lol. I was just messing around. Of course ppl have upgraded 08 radios, it's the same as the 07. I'm sure there are a ton of posts about it.

Thanks for the detailed post, it sure made my JVC KD-AVX11 install go smoothly. Especially with the wiring harness info, as I was able to make sure everything in the Metra harness I bought matched up. Next up is to replace the speakers and add my sub.

Can anyone comment on how much room is actually in the radio area. I'm trying to build a custom case to hold a carputer but i'm not sure what my clearance is. I don't wanna have to take everything apart to figure it out. Does anyone know the height width and depth.

Oh geez. The hardest part about installing my nav unit was cramming it all in there. There is very little room behind the unit and a little bit of room above and below. I'm sure you can accomplish whatever it is that you are trying to do, you just have to get creative with the wire routing and have patience. Good luck
