Yep, ordered mine from crutchfield. plastic brackets & all. once I found screws that fit through the plastic into the reciever, it holds tight (so far). Another thing, I don't like the look of the pocket at the bottom. by switching the pocket & reciever it put the controlls closer to me for easy operation.

Yep, ordered from crutchfield, seams to work fine. I did have a hard time finding screws that fit through the plastic into the reciever.

Wink replace factory rear deck speakers 2008 Honda EX sedan

After your new head unit install this question will be like child play for you.

I wanted replace the factory speakers with Alpine 6.5" all the way around.

Crutchfiled says they will fit in the doors no problem but the rear deck I need to use 5.25" is this true.

From what I am told the cut-out diameter is in the factory hold is 4.737" and the 6.5" Alpine speaker magnetic diameter is 4.824"

Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks!
Peter

Just an added note: You don't have to remove the two screws behind the pocket door under the dash if you're just trying to remove the top portion of the driver's side of the dash (over the steering wheel). I know that this thread is about replacing the HU, so anyone with such a plan will have to remove the screws anyway, but I was using the tutorial to determine how to pull off the above-mentioned panel in order to mount a knob in the top pocket (well, it's a true pocket in my car). In the tutorial pictures, it looks like the power window controls occupy that pocket. My window controls are on the door, so that space is empty.

What I need to know, and this is very important, is where in the dash are the speaker(s) for the key-in-ignition beeper, the headlight beeper and the seat-belt beeper?

Anyone found those?

interesting...

So if this is a double din I should be able to plug and play a DVD unit from Alpine/Pioneer/etc etc into it. Then I can have a true Ipod dock =D

no sound

i have gotten everything hooked up, but i have no sound. I have an EX and now understand that all speakers are powered by a factory amp. What wire needs to be hooked up in order to power the amp? I think that its the blue/white wire form the 2nd connector. Where does this wire connect to on the aftermarket harness?

I have a bad radio reception after installing the poineer avic z2. I was wondering if there was something wrong that was done or maybe someone missed something. Thanks.

Civic066,
I think the OEM amp requires a standard 12v turn-on lead like aftermarket amps, that's provided by the OEM head unit.. keywords "I think".
But if that's the case, you'd need to provide the appropriate "remote-out" lead from an aftermarket head unit to the appropriate pinout location of the harness going into the OEM amp, if that's what you installed.

attached is a pic of the Pioneer harness with the aftermarket adapter. all wires had a match on accept a blue/white and a yellow black on the Pioneer harness, and a black/white on the aftermarket adapter. I attempted to connect the blue/white to a 12 volt power source, but still have not sound from any speaker.

Matt, you should have sent me a PM bro.
Yes you need to have a remote Lead to the factory amp. You need to tap into the light blue with silver stripe wire on the 20 pin factory connector to power up the factory amp.

Sorry I missed your post.

Which connector. There are 3 ( see attached )

1 for the antenna. There is a 2nd blue wire ( not sure where this goes )

2) main harness that connects to the aftermarket connector

3) This connects to the factory radio but no connections for the aftermarket radio

Ant. 1- Blue wire from ant. goes to the power ant. lead from your radio.

Amp2- From your radio romote amp, to the 20pin Connector on the left of your wire harness.

After rereading your post I think you are asking which connector the Lt. Blue with silver stripe wire is on, and that would be #3 the one to the Left of #2. You will want to T-tap this wire so you don't mess up the wire harness, if you are trying to keep it were you can put the OEM radio back in.
