Another navigation retrofit
well this weekend i did my own navi retro to an 06 SI. all went well but it was very time consuming. the wiring harness is a PITA to remove and the new one i rerouted a different way because there was no way to put it in the stock location. i started on saturday at 1pm and finished on sunday at 1pm. i used teh OEM nav unit from the CR-V whish works perfect. there is no need to bypass the stock amplifer, and you do not need to plug in a XM antenna to ge the unit to boot up (was mentioned in the other thread). there is not much of a DIY since most of the car clips together and all you have to do is snap it into/out of place, except for the few screws here and there. and as or the wiring...just route the new wireing harness the same way the old one came out. all of the harness clips only fit one matching plug...so you cant really plug anything in the wrong area...and the harness is cut exactly to lenght.
i dont have the exact parts list but i will list off the things needed to do this without the voice activation and xm radio part. i will do thos ein teh near future though and give a write up. 1. navi surround w/ mounting brackets and hardware 2. nav unit 3. wire harness....(wire harness #2) |

i listed the parts needed in another thread of mine. the part number in it are correct. just order the dash harness, and the XM antennae from online. (i dont think you need the floor harness). this will get you the basic install with everything workgin except voice activation.
