Okay I just got my Scosche kit and wired everything together with the antenna harness as well. When I hook it up, I don't get any sound. Do i need to unhook the factory amp to get sound? Anyone have any pics of where the factory amp is located at on a 4d si?

Your problem may have to do with not taping into the light blue grey striped wire on the factory harness from your civic. Once you tap your remote turn-on wire(blue) from the aftermarket radio to the light blue grey striped wire your factory amp and all speakers will work now. I found out because I ran into the same problem as you, until I taped the light blue grey striped from the factory harness. Do a search on the "Do It Yourself" section of audio and you should find which correct wire it is you need. Let me know if you need help I will find it if you can't find it.

^ you can buy a module made by PAC that allows you to control aftermarket head units using your steering wheel control. It requires a little soldering and tapping into a few factory wires so be sure to expect that.

CAR: 08' Civic, LX
ok! so I just spent 5 hrs on my installation (I can get meticulous about these things). I am running the 12v power wire from the hood around drivers side through an plug i found in near a pedals. I continue it under the carpet to the center console and then run it under the center console, under the carpet going up into the seat (that move was real *****). i take it under the seat and into the truck and finally into the amp. my ground is connected to this metal cross beam type thing which can be easily seen by just pulling out the caper in the trunk (there are two screws going into this beam and its located where the snaps for the carpet "click in." I am using an LOC Rockford Fosgateฎ - IECAULOC, that one precisely and spliced it in with no problem and and then ran RCA's in my trunk from the LOC to the amp. I wired in the 10's and everything was set. however, to avoid the power on\off problem temporarily i put a small wire looped from the remote to the 12v slots on the amp (i did this bc i was using this AMP inside at one point) and although the amp will now be "always on" bc of this, i just took out the fuse for the night and will cont. to until i decide if i want a switch or to try a splice. I was very maticulous and worked slowly to make sure it was done right, the first time. I turned on my car and all looked well. windows worked. lights worked (including all dash lights), no funny crap on the dash like check engine etc. OK! so now for my problems. #1 did you people find that the LOC bass| treble was controlled by the HU bass| treble? (when i turn the bass on the deck up, bass on subs goes up and when i turn bass down, subs bass goes down too... etc... i had assumed that the RCA out would not be controlled by the HU, am i missing something on my LOC settings? or is this just the way it is? #2 for some strange reason (and this is why i gave the particulars of my procedures), when i turn the car off, and only when i turn my car off... totally (i.e. if accessories are on or if radio is off, but car is on, this does not occur) I GET REDICULOUSLY LOUD and annoying feedback... its like the bass is on full blast and its just feed back. this is causing me to leave the car on when i park, get out, pull the fuse and then turn off my car! PLZ HELP! *** I was just wondering why splicing the remote wire into one of the rear channel speaker wires wouldn't work.... i dont wanna try it if im just wasting my time... please advise. |

![]() the following was the DIY i used... i hope it will help you as clearly as it helped me. if you do have any particular q's im happy to answer... p.s. i got really confused when i started bc i saw a lager "plug" and a smaller one, use the larger one... its lower down right near fuse box. Another "Power from Battery to Trunk" DIY also, you are going to need a REM wire.... my advice is to pull out fuse #35 i saw someone else did it and decided to give it a shot. its the radio\acc fuse i THINK! either way i just stripped the wired after i pulled the fuse and pretty much just jammed the two back into the slot together... sort of held the stripped wire into the socket and just pushed that sucker in!... works perfect... test and amp goes on off like clockwork! for those of you following my story! my **** is working now! i turned the gain to like 75% i guess just to make sure i dont put too much pressure on anything and obviously once i got the REM wire in, the feedback (which was only happening once the car was off bc the amp was still "hot" (on)) STOPPED WOOHOOO!!! im sorry i didnt take pics but i felt everything i did was just meshing dif parts of the work of ppl that already have posted pics. however, stay tuned bc im planning on getting an 8" (perhaps shallow mount) open air sub. right now im running two 10's and i know i will lose quite a bit of bomb in the back, but it will be so much more discreet. so im a fan... i think lol Then i want to creat an ipod station for my ipod where i can "cradle" it while i drive and i want to tuck away wires like power etc. I want to create a proper "jack" to charge my phone with hidden wiring i want to mount and hide wireing for a grs and i want to get the dash kit and install a new, PHAT deck with perhaps double din display and would perhaps just roll the nav into the deck. Lastly, speakers... the stock ones are doing pretty well for me. i would say its a year till its all done, but slowly slowly ![]() STAY TUNED! |

No biggie on the grammar this isn't college so its cool :X HEHE
But anyways, thanks a lot for the tip and I'll post up any questions if I have any. Oh yeah, do you have an EX or LX because I haven't seen anyone do the steering wheel control. I really dont' want to just install aftermarket HU and not be able to use the controls on the steering wheel

Hi jem199:
How's your installation? Did you figure out if there is a separate amplifier in Civic EX 06? If there is no separate amplifier, it might be simple. If not, how to bypass the factory amplifier without an aftermarket amplifier (only use the amplifier of the receiver, 16Wrms/ch for example)? The key question is for 2006 Civic EX Sedan W/O Nav., is the factory amplifier part of the factory receiver or it is separate from the receiver and located under the shift? Can somebody help? Thanks a lot! |

This is a good news too me. I don't plan to install an aftermarket amplifier at this stage, just wishing the aftermarket head unit can output decent power, 20Wrms/ch for instance. Then I can just connect the aftermarket head unit to the wire harness of the vechicle maybe through some connector adapters. A powered compact subwoofer can also be easily hooked up to the head unit and be placed under the front seat. I hope I understand your answer correctly. I am really looking forward to this upgrade. Any suggestions on the audio connector adapters to Pioneer FH-P8000BT or JVC KW-XG700. They are both 2 DINs and the ports are standard. Thanks! |

DOES THIS MEAN MY AMP JUST CANNOT POWER THE SUBS???? would a 760watt pioneer do the trick? model: gm5000t |
