He listed one console, two brackets and a pocket. The brackets hold the radio in and the pocket goes under the radio. |

Installed the steering wheel control mod from PAC for my 07 EX sedan. FOR THE MODE BUTTON TO WORK, YOU NEED TO INSTALL A RESISTOR! I forget which resistor, but the vehicle-specific info on their website was spot-on. I soldered the resistor between the two wires and taped the wires with the resistor to the unit so it wouldn't break. They include four resistors and only one of them got the MODE button to work.

I'm sorry but I didn't take pics - it's easier than you think though. I think you only have to hook up 3 wires - pos, neg, and the white control wire. I did trial and error to find the right resistor. A pair of small alligator clips will help you hold the resistor to the wires while you're testing. The programming is very simple once you read through it. Just clip a resistor to the wires, program, and test. Then repeat with the next resistor if "MODE" button doesn't work. I remember doing the resistors in ascending order and it was the second one i tried.

Yes, i believe there are 2 screws on the bottom, what you do is, in the pocket below the radio, there is a plastic plate, get a flat head screwdriver and put it in the tabs and pop it out, do some maneuvering and look straight up inside that pocket u should see 2 screws, they're hard to see get a flash light.

np, that plastic plate, i also used to mount 2 on/off switches that control the subs, and video bypass, and i also mounted the subwoofer amp volume controls. If anyone wants to see how it looks, post and i'll put up a pic. But man it looks almost stock.

Sorry for the delay, i've been kinda busy.
But I ran these switches from the yellow wire from the radio harness, so they only power up when the car is on. I'll take a pic of the back over the weekend. The photos don't do the blue light on the switch justice; the blue LED on the switches gives a very nice and smooth blue ambient glow, I got the switches at pep boys for like 3$ each. For install, pop off the panel and lay it flat on a box or w/e, you will see a pattern for rectangles with plastic ridges, take a small bit and drill in the center of the rectangle to start the hole, if you've been following my guide from the beginning take the 1/2" bit you used to drill the firewall to run power to the subs, and drill the starter hole. (make sure your doing this from the back, as it will make the install cleaner. Depening on how many switches you want/need drill those out as well. My amp has a volume control knob wire that I also mounted, this one was a bit trickier, I used an average sized bit, and once through the plastic I made the hole bigger gradually (a dremel might be a better idea for it). I think twisted the volume control knob into the panel, surprisingly the plastic is thick enough that it will create threads on it's own, so I didn't even need to use a washer/bolt to keep it in place. ![]() ![]() From left to right; the first switch turns the subwoofers on/off, middle switch is for my pioneer video bypass, (for the AVH-P5900DVD unit and probably most of the newer models, you need to run you the pioneer's parking brake wire (green) to the load lead on the switch (usually the prong in the middle), and then run a ground to the ground lead; when you play video, switch it on/off/on to bypass the video) and then on right I have my subwoofer volume control knob. Here is an attempt to show the LED from the switch. ![]() I haven't tried running a hot wire to the pioneer bypass switch, mainly because i'm not sure if it will affect the unit or not, the reason I want to do this is so both switches will light up, as of now on the subwoofer switch is lighting. PS: So I only need now to get the steering wheel audio controls working; anyone have a pic they could take for me of the exact location of the wire to be tapped into from the harness, or better yet have a pic of they're install I could use. I'll post a detailed DIY once I'm sure I can do this right lol. |
