You'll have some small issues with the wiring harness, but it shouldn't be too troublesome if you know what you're doing. Be sure to get that backup camera.

no..there are no issues with the wiring. it has all the same plugs +1 extra that is for the backup camera that isnt used...unless you can find away to make it work it plugs in without any issues

I stand corrected. Although, the CR-V navi is a bit more expensive. You might find deals on eBay though.

I have a somewhat related question - and yes, I have spent the last hour searching.
I have the premium audio system navi unit. I also have exhausted the 3 month trial of XM (which I hated). Is there a way I can disconnect XM from my system without adversely affecting it?
I don't use/like/want XM, but every time I push the CD/XM button, it immediately goes to XM instead of the CD. It is really just an annoyance, and one I can deal with, but if it is as simple as disconnecting the XM harness/plug from the back of the navi - I would definitely do it.

Any help would be appreciated.

you could just unplug the xm plug from the back of the radio...seems like alot of work rather than just pressing the button a second time to get to play the cd.... or you could always use the voice commands to do what you want.

I'm sorry to pseudo-hijack the thread, but doesn't it make more sense to sell/trade-in your current Si and purchase a new one with navigation? You would take a hit in pricing, but a navi retrofit seems just as expensive and more stressful than buying a new car.

With the original factory navigation...

1. You can avoid the hassle of finding parts
2. You don't have to pay for parts AND installation
3. Unit is installed as per Honda oversight at the factory
4. Unit is covered under warranty

With the voice command bugs that some people are experiencing, the warranty seems more important than ever. Unless you have lots of money, time, and expertise in vehicle electronics, a retrofit seems entirely unrealistic. I had dreams of doing one until I did the research. I've since convinced myself that it would be wasteful to spend thousands on something that I want but don't need.

Not to be a downer to those of you who successfully completed a retrofit. Make no mistake, I am extremely jealous.

After reading all this, I think I will rather buy a 3rd party Navi and install it in my car. I just find all this to be too expensive and too much work.

I like factory, I want to do this retro but I don't wana go throught the rip out of the entire wire harness, I do want all of the features to work on the unit though voice prompt, steering controls etc. I have personally seen Mike (Type X) retro @ Pauls Mod Meet very impressed. I actually enjoy making harnesses, it wouldnt be a bother to me, if it works for you it works for me. I'll have to look into this retro a lil bit more before I go through with it.

since i can't edit my post i'll just add a little more to it

the install takes me about 2-3 hours to do, all that is needed is to repin the harness, and splice about 2-4 wires. for a small fee i will do the install for anyone

^no one has done mikes install becasue there is no DIY. most people, including me, will not voluntarily change a main harness in their car without knowing exactly how to do it.
