this is the worst DIY ive ever seen. i give it to the guy that he did it but the explanation for the process was horrible. i would also suggest not doing this DIY unless u know your supposed to disconnect the battery b4 doing all of this or else u may end up killing urself with those airbags! but i guess if u dont know that already then u shouldnt be doing this. i also like how he broke some of his plastics around the dead pedal! haha

is he suposed to take a picture of every little thing that he does? no that would be a waste of time. the one doing the install should know that you should disconnect the battery when installing anything electical, just for the safety of not getting shocked for any reason.. i mean come on.. if you dont have the common sense to do that, you really shouldnt be doing this. these stupid comments are making me lol... if he didnt do the DIY, everyone would still be clueless on how to do it... he stated the parts that you need to get it working and he also stated that you need extra parts to get the steering wheel controls to work properly...he shows what panels you need to take off and everything. what more could you ask for, him to hold your hand while you do it? come on now, lets be real here.

i have to bump this thread, and add my comments since i am the one who did the install on Mikes car
the wasted money on alot of parts... 1- Instrument Wire harness 32117-SVB-A01 2- Sunroof Wire harness(mic) 32156-SVA-A11 3 - cable reel none of these are needed at all, but that what happens when you don't ask questions to the correct people |

the cable reel already has the all the wires internal, all you need to do is add 1 wire to the connector(basically the empty spot) for the sunroof you run 3 wires from the mic to the navi unit, and all that is needed from the main harness is 2-4 wires, and those are for power and ground. the reverse wire is not needed. otherwise everything else is already there |

and wires from the mic to the navi unit? wouldnt they have to go to the steering wheel in order to pic up the signal to when to be in use or not from teh talk/back buttons? as for the cable reel....i didnt add anyting to it. all the wires i needed were already in it. i definatly agree that it was not necessary to change |

nope, you are incorrect about the mic, check the schematics if you don't believe me. the mic does not turn on unless you press the button on the steering wheel, when is connected direclty to the navi unit |

i got the sunroof harness and instrument harness to do it PnP. and because i didnt have a manual to tell me what wiring does what...it was very simple to do, but very time consuming. |

it's very simple, the navi unit needs 3-4 extra wires that the normal harness that comes with the non-navi cars don't have 2 is power 1 is ground 1 is reverse signal as you can see in the pic below, i was able to turn on the entire navi system just by my computers power supply my way was also plug and play, but that was because mike was lucky, and got all of the stock connectors this is the mic harness i made |

that is 100% correct. i was lucky, and someone (i forget who) was able to send me the schmatics for the entire car before they were available to the public |
