How to make a MP3 CD

I guess this isn't technically a car DIY, but it took me a while to find a program and stuff so I figured this DIY might be useful.

Step 1: Burn your music to CDs

Step 2: Rip your music using CD-DA X-Tractor, remember to change to MP3 output in the options

Step 3: Use the properties of the files to name albums, artists, song titles, etc.

Step 4: Organize your music into folders, these can work like playlists in the car

Step 5: Burn the CD as a data CD, and put it into the car

"Step" 6: Once in the car the "disp" button can be used to display artist, name, etc, and using the rdm button can be used to both randomize all songs, and just one folder.

btw, the tune knob switches folders

remember that if you can't hear your music is too loud, or your exhaust is too quiet

tip: holding down the channel button in either direction on the steering wheel changes the folder

Is it possible to make your song/file names scroll in the display?

I noticed it just shows the beginning part of the name and then has a > that's it.

Well.. somehow get the files on your PC..

Then.. you send files / folders to your driver (typically D: )

Next.. there will be a balloon asking what to do..

Tell it to make a Data cd..

Put in a cd...

Let it make the cd...

Listen to the cd :] haha

Question: Does the mp3 player in the car decide on the order alphabetically? I have ass loads of mp3's, but when I make a folder and burn them for the car, they sometimes play out of order... I tried putting numbers before some the other day, but the damn cd burning software made if like 1 11 12 13... 19 20... so I changed my indexing and put a letter before each track... is there an easier way?

it does it exactly how you see it on the screen (whatever program you use...)
but like.. I have all my music divided into folders... so I just put folders on a cd.. and they're usually in alphabetical order as windows media player likes to just set it up that way..

Is there any way to create folders within itunes to create an mp3? For example: If I made a playlist with one type of music, is there a way put a play list within a playlist to create a folder instead of dropping all the music in one playlist?

File > New Folder

and then you can go to File > New Playlist to create playlists inside of that folder

I did this on my MacBook with the latest version of iTunes, I don't know if the create folder is in the earlier / windows versions.

Oh god do I feel stupid. I was creating that backwards with the playlist and then the folder. Anyway, for some reason Itunes could not burn some mp3's due to the fact when I ripped them it was not put as mp3 format but AAC.

So I just used Sonic, which did a fantastic job organizing the music and folders that i have created.

Haha...yeah I wouldn't doubt it. The funny thing is that I had the car for like 2 months and this is the first time I've used the CD player in the car. I was so used to plugging in my ipod to listen to the music.

So does the stock cd player display song information on enhanced cd's?
