Still using the stock navi head unit with no amp.

You can order the mounts (Crutchfield link on the 1st or 2nd page of this thread) if you don't want to destroy your stock speakers. It would make the install easier too not having to cut the stock speakers out of the mounts.

FYI the linked crutchfield adapter is actually a harness so you don't have to cut into the factory speaker wiring. It is by no means a mount nor baffle for the speakers.

man i just did this in my coupe. only prob is, my speakers don't bump anymore. i have 2 6.5" infinity's and they used to pump when i had them in my old acura. is this because the civic's stock amp is weak as balls? also, when i put the cover back on, the back left and right parts near the window are not flush, however i think i clicked the white tabs back in.

I had to pull the side pieces toward the 'cover' then snap them in. If you look in the bottom you see how it fits together.

Put in 06 civic coupe for your car and they'll give you a list of what speakers will fit perfectly. Along with the speakers, they'll give you free bracket made specifically for our car so that it will fit perfectly like the oem speakers. Not only they will include the free bracket, they will also include free speaker harness that will plug into our oem plug so there will be no need to hack & slash our oem wires.

Can just buy a cheap set of speakers and all that stuff is free.

Oh did i forget to mention, when you buy a headunit from them, they will give you the dash kit for your car for free? they also include the free pocket, harness, & antenna adapter.

Any head unit $129 and up qualify for the free dash kit.
Two errors in this post. Crutchfield no longer provides FREE dash kit. It's only 50% off when you buy a head unit $130+.

Secondly the brackets that crutchfield gives you are for 5.25" speakers in the rear deck. The 6.5" brackets are for the fronts and cannot fit in the rear.

And also Crutchfield is giving NOTHING away for free!! The HUGE premium they charge on all their stuff can pay for them throwing in a harness here, and an adapter there. Crutchfield is a GREAT place to do research and comparisons, but buying from them can make you feel like you just woke up in a hotel bathtub full of ice in Las Vegas, wondering where your kidney's went!

i agree. their site is useful for looking up info on your speakers real quick. just tear up the stock speakers and mount the aftermarkets on the old bracket. you'll get a perfect fit, and you're only tearing up a 15 dollar speaker.

What HUGE premium? Crutchfield charges MSRP. Yes you can get the radio cheaper online or on eBay but you'll get no warranty and if you look at the total price you're really not saving all that much since the margin is pretty low on HUs and especially on eBay they gouge you on the shipping.

is it a good ideal to put aftermarket kicker ks 6 1/2 on the rear deck insted of the oem spkrs before i add aftermarket amp? so basicly the spkrs will be powerd by the stock amp. Also i dont know the wiring color indication on the rear deck speakers so which is positive and which is negetive? thanks in advance

Yeah aftermarket speakers sound much better than the stock ones with or without an aftermarket amp. The stock head unit is kind of weak so the new speakers won't be much louder than the stock ones until you get an amp, but the sound is much better. If the speaker wiring isn't labeled you might just have to play with it (positive & negative) until it sounds right. If you're gonna get an amp you might as well also get a better subwoofer since the stock one is weak. I think the optimal solution would be to take out the stock sub so there is a hole for air to travel and put a sub box in the trunk.

Hi,
Nice information. I am new to this forum and was looking for rear speaker installation. How to remove the rear dash. I think my rare speaker grills do not come out. Thanks
