DIY: Rear speaker + sub removal

unclip all the white clips under the trunk ( just push them up)

push up and pull the cover slightly

use a 8mm socket to remove the speaker.

nut removed, simply just push to the left to unhook the speaker. (do the same on the other side but push it to the right)

unplug the connector.

remove the speaker.
sub.
remove 4 nust on the sub (8mm socket)

take the sub out and unplugg the connector

remove the sub.

reverse the work for installation. or follow the instraction on the aftermarket sub/speaker installation. (sometimes, use common sense)

to put the cover back. make sure all white clips are on its place (like on the pic below.)

enjoy.

My Si is less than 2 weeks old. i hope to not have to be removing speakers for quite some time. I'm very satisfied with the stock system.

Very nice, I was looking to replace the 6.5's and take out the sub to act as a port into the cab for my sub in the trunk. Thanks. Now I hope I dont break anything.

hell Ya!

nice thinkin man!
i have a DX-G but this shouldnt matter as its the same
chassis/body style...ill just make this an open port into
the cabin for my subs in the trunk.

thanks for the idea!

If your going to replace the speakers make sure you use spaces on the 2 speakers, or cut the stock speakers and use the spacers they have. If you dont then the tension bars for the trunk will get in the way of the speakers magnet.

its not the speaker who rattles.. but then again i don't know about your problem and if its the speaker, they will replace it under warranty

even if it were the speaker cuz its cooked?
i wouldnt have it replaced with another OEM crap speaker
that will fry not to long down the road again.

You can find some decent speakers at a cost that is
comfortable to you the consumer, and will sound much
cleaner/louder (even better if wired to seperate amp).

Even a low end Alpine will sound better then a stock speaker
from honda.

I am going to assume 6.5" is for both sedan and coupe models. In addition, for all models?

I like to change the front or rear speakers with some aftermarkets I have sitting around. it doesn't seem like a hard install compared to a camary (for the rear) lol. And please elaborate more about that trunk brace or magnet thing...
