What are some of the ways you installed speakers in the rear deck. There isn't hardly any room. Ideas???

Not sure if I can live with one 12 yet but I wil see. My plan is to dyno the back deck and leave the stock sub whole open. I'll let you know if it makes a difference or not. Those side curtain airbags are messing up my tweeter plans. I don't know where I'm going to mount them just yet.
I mounted my tweeters on that pillar. The airbags are found at the top of that pillar so you can install tweeters in the bottom portion. I can take a pic of mine if you like

Nice DIY.

I had been wanting to install LX's rear cabin panel into my SI so I can get in-cabin 3rd brake lights (since I want to remove my SI wing). With this DIY, I could remove the stock sub and install the LX's rear panel in place.

I'm only thinking about it lol, removing audio for aesthetics is a bit dumb so... I won't be doing it unless I can find somewhere else on the car that I can remount the sub, maybe in the rear cupholder section...hmm

I have an EX-L, I just popped the rear speaker covers off and replaced them with Polk
DB6501's had to cut two deck corners (for speakers to fit flush) and bore hole through the deck for the tweeter then mounted the cross over box underneath the deck.

The trunk rods were not in the way of the sub but are close to the tweeter. sound is good although I need power! (An amp when my finances permit).

Where the speaker cover has ports for the speaker I'm going to drill through? 100 holes or whatever to open up the cover so the tweeter can breath. (The rear speaker cover holes are open to the speaker only although it's a big cover, can you find a cover that's covered in fabric and open???)

I installed 6 1/2 in speakers in the front and rear deck. the front is fine but i'm trouble with the rear deck. i also have a sub and put about 40 sq of damplifier around the car and the only rattle is from the rear panel. i have broken a couple of clips and did put some damp around the speakers themselves and the panel itself. it really won't stay in and wont stop rattling. i'm not sure if theres
a. too much damp?
b. the third brake light (lx) is tapping the glass
c. the far left and right wont pop in which is causing rattling
d. side air bag rattle?

how do i put my panel in right?!!? i'm retarded or something, or i've broken too many clips (not the white clips but the plastic itself on the panel). if thats the problem any advice on trying to pop the panel in?? thanks

its probly the trunk bars are hiting or vibrating on the speakers so you will either have to get a spacer thats a lil bigger or you might just have to cut the bars that allow the trunk to easily open or close it happens to me to mainly when i hit bumps it sounds bad when the music is down, chec the back of the speaker if it has a indent from the bar then thats your problem, also open your trunk then close it you will hear it more than normal because the bar re adjust it self.

na i know what ur talkin about i did the same thing when i took off my speaker cover. ur supposed to push up so the tabs so they dont brake but i didnt figure that out until after it was too late. anyways im hopin Velcro will stop it from rattling. other then that the only way i could think to fix it properly would be to buy a new cover from a honda dealership parts department.

does anyone know where the stock amp is? or how to hook up an aftermarket amp to the stock head unit

I have a 08 DX-G coupe. I blew the factory speakers within two weeks of getting the car so I decided to replace all four with MTX 6.5'' dome-axials. For all four I needed spacers because of the height of the speakers. I got the door speakers installed at Future Shop but the rear deck speakers I replaced myself. I ended up cutting up the factory speaker and making a spacer out the the old speaker. They were too high and the cover wouldn't snap back into place so what I ended up doing was cutting ang grinding down the tube things on the cover itself, i brought it down flush with the cover and they fit perfect now. If you're looking for speakers with good sound and a lot of bass, I'd recommend MTX. Also if you want a lot of bump get a 12" MTX Jackhammer for the trunk, I'm sure they'll hear you before they see you.

Hey.

I recently purchased a 2dr 07 Ex and the stereo is terrible. I wanted to replace the speakers, sub, and amp. I wasreading other posts and some people are saying that the ohms may be different and not to replace the factory setting.

I was hoping to install a JL Audio 8" sub with an MTX 4 channel amp, as well as JL Audio front and rear speakers.

Am I able to use the stock wiring for the amp as well as the speaker set up?
will it be a simple swap or is there more to it?

Thanks

Great DIY

This is very helpful, this will be my first Audio project and I'm going to start with a sub, if i'm going to be installing a...

Alpine MRP-M1000 and Type-R 1800w Peak...

Should I just replace the stock 8inch with something to cover the port, and use the feed that was going to that to lead into a LOC and then to my amp?

seen people do this, you gotta get a new rear deck cover and a saw, just cut a hole in the metal and mount a shallow mount sub in where the Si has one, and an amp upside down on the back deck in the trunk side. presto nospace-Bass
