nice job on the diy, just wondering, i put alpine type s speakers all around on my lx coupe, had my cousin who works at an av shop do the ones on the rear deck cause i was lazy. he told me i couldn't put the rear deck all the way back down because the speakers were too big and deck would hit the cone. anyone else have this problem?

Great DIY. I want to only replace the speakers and use better ones that are the same size.

i saw a subwoofer cover. Is that only so nothing in the trunk pokes the speaker or is is for occoustics?

okk need an answer.. I have 06 Civic Coupe

got 2 Kicker CVR 12's waiting to put in the trunk.. measured and I'm gonna have to remove the sub cover.. and the sub is busted so what do you guys recommend I do with it..

1. Get new 8 inch sub
2. Just remove it completely to have more airflow in trunk

Also my back rear speakers are busted as well.. I'm looking into kicker speakers for back there also.. WOULD YOU GUYS TRUST CIRCUIT CITY ON THIS TYPE OF INSTALLATION?

I'm not very good at installing systems so I'm gonna have them install my amp, sub and speakers. Anyone ever had Circuit City do this? Need any kind of feedback, thanks.

between circuit city and best buy,
i'd go with best buy. i had some
installs done by circuit city and i
had to go back more than four times
because of their shoddy work.

i am talking by experience,but it's
still your call man.

i just removed my stock subs yesterday.
turns out that i don't have to remove the
rear deck panel. i just removed the speaker
cover itself and from there i was able to
unscrew my stock subs.

mines a sedan though.

so, can I get some decent aftermarket rear speakers at a good price that is much better then the stock ones?

I want some extra "ummph" but do not want to go to all the trouble of adding a sub. Also, what size are the rear speakers?

I have a 2007 Civic EX 4 door

well, just got done taking out the stock sub.... man those airbag covers are a pain in the ass to take out. ended up breaking part of the little white tab on the driver side air bag cover. rear deck was a pain in the ass 2! i found a couple of things out while doing this though......

i dont kno if its just the 09's that are like this, but my stock sub is different than the one pictured. its kinda smaller and has almost the same kinda brackets as the speakers do look wise.

also i dont kno if it's just a 09 thing but i dont really have a problem with the tension bar thing. they dont seem to be in the way of anything really. mayb they moved thiem for 09?

rattle not coming from the plastic and metal rear decks rubbing against eachother being as when i took out the rear deck it was was still rattling so it couldnt be from that, but grabbing the tension bars through the hole did help reduce it though.

one thing that pissed me off was that after i took everything out and all that **** i was looking at the plastic deck and realized the speaker grilles are removable and so i went through all that trouble of taking off the dreaded air bag covers y todo when i couldve just taken off the grilles.

Question..... which gives better sound, deeper bass, pros and cons.....?? having the truck enclosed (as in having no "vents" (such as where the old sub would be)) or to have some kind of vent (as in just leaving the stock sub removed so air can pass between the truck and cabin freely)?

would i use this removal of therear deck when/if i was to dynamat the rear deck?? has dynamating the rear deck helped ne-one? is it really neccessary or worth it to do it?

I'm doing a complete install tomorrow. A kenwood excelon KDC-X692, alpine type s 6 1/2 components in the front & back with an alpine MRP-F300 amp. I'm using my old sub set up, a crossfire 12 with a kenwood amp. I went to an audio shop a friend works at and swapped out my big 2-12 box for a single 12 ported box. Not sure if I can live with one 12 yet but I wil see. My plan is to dyno the back deck and leave the stock sub whole open. I'll let you know if it makes a difference or not. Those side curtain airbags are messing up my tweeter plans. I don't know where I'm going to mount them just yet.
