Did you disconnect the stock sub? Must conflict a little bit if you had both of those subs playing at the same time.

Hummm. Great job figuring this out, would have saved me some money.

Would this be a good idea for people who want aftermarket component speakers? People usually run new wires for their speakers, I'm not sure if you can use the stock wiring without cutting to replace the speakers.

Yeah so I heard Fritz's setup yesterday with this method he used. Clean and loud. Pretty much all I can say. Just needs speaker upgrades to improve the highs.

Yeah I always just set up my radio like normal and just be sure to connect the amp wire from the head unit to the light blue wire and you're set.
Good write up. Wish it was around when I first did my radio in 07 because it was a PITA to find out which wire to use for the amp.

I'm missing a few things here. Where is the audio source for the sub coming from?

The rear or front channels? (using the fader should reveal this)

Is the sub putting out bass only, like there is a cutt-off, or is it full range?

How does the stock headunit control the subs volume?

Sub volume is adjusted on the amp and you can increase the bass output of the stock up to +6.

if ur running an aftermarket hu there is no sub controls. u only can adjust ur high mids and lows to change the sound. it will play bass but it might be to much and blow ur speekers thats y i have my bass going to the external amp and sub

Thanks for the DIY.. After reading this I realized I purchased the incorrect harness. This is going to help me out a great deal nonetheless.
