louieinyo...i dont know why your hating on Nomar06. i mean this is a great write up and a great idea. if you think this is going to f*ck up your driving than dont do it. sh*t man, this is a just a DIY, it doesnt mean that your obligated to do what Nomar06 did.

"If other people start doing what you did to thier car they will be damaging thier new car for no reason when you can get a well made dock for $10 less.I think i'm being more helpful by advising against butchering your car. This is what a public forum is for."

this is the risk you take while doing a DIY...its not here because you need to do it, its here because you can if you want to.

+999999 to Nomar06, im gonna get started on this asap

How about both. All I see is a cable hanging. What if you don't want to see that cable you can't tuck it back becauase you will lose it in your dash.

Here are the pics and vid.

Just as an FYI, the first pics of the Cherokee has the wire in there, its just hidden. I actually drilled a hole big enought for the wire. I took apart the white and gold part of the jack. No way the jack can go past the plastic.

Thanks for going thru trouble of making and posting the video and pics.It looks better in the video, but I thought you would make the video of you driving so you could see if it jiggles and how you pick songs.

No vid of me driving since the cam doesnt give a good angle on the seat and falls of the armrest while im driving(no fun)

When I go to change a new song I just point and push the next or previous button. I dont select a different band. I leave on shuffle mode and select my genre of music while Im warming up the car. If I get in a different mood and want to change the Genre I do it while Im at a red light. Pull the ipod of the dock, choose, and put the ipod back in the dock.

No jiggles, sorry to disappoint. If there is, which I dont see, I dont hear it hitting anything. I have a 1/4" gap between the ipod and the plastic peice behind.

Nice Dano. Couldn't have said it better myself. This thread was a good thread until it got jacked up by the troll.

Dude, your a nut. Just shutup. This is a great DIY that I want to do to my Automatic. Are you going to tell me that it might affect my shifting too? Or maybe tell me that I will crash and die because I clicked a button on my Ipod during a red light. To be honest with you, I dont like yours at all. It looks like you went to the store and bought it (which you did), not that it looks like part of the car. I would much rather have it mounted like his and not have the ipod just floating off of the Cig lighter.

Thats even better than a ghetto white home dock.My dock has a locking system to make sure it does not jiggle, unlike the home dock that simply slides in and out.

Did you have to take apart your interior? Then cut holes in your dash for the home dock, and break your aux input?

First off, I'd like to commend Nomar06 on a great idea and an excellent DIY. Second off, I've seen this done to another Si at SEMA Philadelphia. I thought it was a great idea there too. Bob and Ron's World Wide Stereo of Montgomeryville, PA used a white dock in their car car as well. It is a different dock and sits lower but Bob and Ron have a few more resources than Nomar. A white dock can be refinished and painted if the color is that much of an issue. For pics on the audio build go to: http://www.wwstereo.com/mobile/ Honda Civic pics 38,39.

Now the reason why I felt so inclined to respond to this thread:

LouieinYo, you have spent 4 days of your time arguing with Nomar and everyone else on this thread as the anti to it all. Nomar did invite comments and one will suffice. Beating the dead horse isn't needed or neccessary and it truely gets to the point that people no longer care about your opinion. So, on that note, your opinion is known. Enough said. END IT NOW. Stop instigating. That is what you are doing and don't argue me on it. If you feel that your option is better than by all means, do a DIY. Until that occurs this argument is over.
