Dude, chill. It's not your car so what do you care? He didn't ruin the resale value of his car by doing this. All parts can be purchased from Honda and made to look like nothing was done to it. Personally, I like his set up much better than the one in your picture because it sits lower, looks cleaner and doesn't clutter up the dash. Also, did you notice you contradicted yourself when you said you have to look away from the road to pick a song, but then you said you could watch video in traffic? Which is more dangerous, Mr. Safe Driver?

Nomar, good DIY and rep points for you.

1. Not even close to hitting the Ipod when shifting.
2. Resale wont be hurt since I can replace the peice I cut.
3. It's on shuffle mode all the time. I dont have to look at it if I need to change the song.
4. This chages my Ipod also.
5. Why would you look at a 2 inch screen instead of the traffic?
6. The holder you have looks like crap to me, you have to move the Ipod to control your ac.

Anything else you would like to comment on?

I have research everything that is out there, trust me. 3 years worth of research. By far, this is my best and cleanest set-up and still on a budget.

Oh and the amp thing your mentioned is BS, nothing out there "amplifies" the sound.

1.lets say you get a big gulp and you don't attach the lid right.Bye bye ipod and maybe a short.
2.whenever you take apart the inside of your car you always damage or lose a clip. That causes squeaks and rattles which lowers your resale.Who wants to buy a squeaky used car?
3.Shuffle mode?So every song on your ipod is so good you never want to skip ahead or replay?b.s.
4.my dock charges.I thought that was obvious since it plugged into the lighter.
5.why wouldn't you watch a 2 inch screen in traffic?I'm talking about bumper to bumper worse case traffic.I'm not saying it's safe but its a nice option to have. How about when your waiting for someone and your car is not moving that would be safer.
6.my holder is the same color as my dash,Your is white and meant for the home, you know it jiggles over bumps,

Why would I have to move my ipod to turn on my a/c.All i have to do is rotate a knob?

They call it "dual level audio output".

Man, you've got an opinion on everything and I bet you just have to be right about everything don't you? If you don't like his idea, STFU and go to the next thread! We're here on this forum to contribute to each other, not "mine's better than yours" arguments. I don't see you doing any DIYs on the creative things you've done to your car...

I am contributing by advising against this.I paid ten dollars less and don't have to replace my coin tray and aux input.

From your pic the ipod sits right in front of the knobs. I don't get any giggles. When I go to change a song (rare) I dont have to look down since its is placed right under my hand when Im on the armrest. I hardly ever have a drink in my car and when I do I know how to put a lid on a cup, plus the cup holder are made not to let a cup go (no big gulps here, no 7-11, too bad for me, love that place) I guess your a newb at doing DIY, because I didnt loose any screw or clips and there are no squeaks. Why would I want to watch a 2 inch screen anyways, I would have to be less than a foot away to see the damn thing???

Nowhere on the item description does it say that it amplifies the sound. All the audio thing is a noice canceler. Basically the same thing as a mute button, only it adds and reduces the volume. Also you STILL have to buy an FM transmitter for the damn thing?????? How is that thing going to produce any good sound????? FM transmitters are the WORST possible connection for an Ipod.

Please go away because you have no clue what your talking about!!!!

Why would you need a fm transmitter when you can plug it into the aux input? It says you need a "line output cable" that would plug into your aux input.Even if it pressed up against or on the side of the knob,I would still be able to turn it with one finger. It looks fine from the drivers seat.No 7-11's that does suck.I can't believe you never had a cherry slurpee. Before i got my civic I installed my own amps, radio, rims on my 02 maxima and every car before that.I learned no matter how careful you setout to be you will mess some stuff up,but I do get the satisfaction you get from doing it yourself.Sorry if I made your install look stupid but you don't have to mislead.

Last time I had a slurpee I was around 10 years old. I can still remember the brain freeze like it was yesterday!

I love working on my cars. 3 cars previous to the Si. I have changed all component and added bass. The only "squeaker" was a crap saturn I had for 6 months. It squeaked before I did anything to it. On the Si Im going performance first then stereo!

Edit:
Ok, no FM tranmitter, but you still have at least a 3ft wire hanging around. This is the whole reason for doing my install. NO WIRES!!!!
You may call it stupid, but no wires visible makes more sense to me.

You mean edit just like you do?Fm transmitter??????They do also have 6inch cables.Even if you can't find a short cable like I did.The 1 foot cable would be hidden in the compartment behind the shifter. If thats your only complaint.I would still much rather not cut holes in my car and mess up my aux input I use it for xm too.O&A partyrock!

What does hidden mean to you???

Well Im in the forum to help whenever I can, unlike the majority of your posts that bash everyone and try to make it sound like your always right.

I guess [IVI] was correct, you always have to be right.

You are not helping at all.If other people start doing what you did to thier car they will be damaging thier new car for no reason when you can get a well made dock for $10 less.I think i'm being more helpful by advising against butchering your car. This is what a public forum is for.

Everytime I post a new mod I get negative feedback.I expect it.It only bothers me when people try to mislead.

Im not misleading everyone, I dont tell them they should do one thing over the other like you "advise" people not to "butcher" thier car.

Whatever. Its just my opinion. You don't have to listen to me.I'm just saying before you go and cut holes in your car and mess up your aux input try my solution.I can't believe you did 3 years of research and never came across my dock.It took me 5 mins to find it and 30 seconds to install it.I can also uninstall it pretty fast.If you wanted to uninstall yours you would have to replace your aux input, replace your coin tray and it would take a few hours.

Let me say this again HIDDEN!!!!

I know the dock is still there, but once I go for a beauty plate, the only thing visible will be the connecter to the Ipod. Yes, I saw your flex thing before, not clean enought for me.

You call that hidden.Yours obstructs your shifter!!!!!Before you did this you could rest your arm on the armrest and keep your hand on the shifter. Now your white ipod and homedock are in the way.You made your car uncomfortable to drive.I bet its useless if you move your armrest all the way up.

Since you don't have a 6sp shifter, it would be hard to explain to you that I don't have to grab the shift boot to chage gears, I grab the shift knob. The top of the Ipod is atleast 5 inches below the shift knob. I still don't know how you think it obstructs my shifting? I wouldn't have done this if if was going to hinder my driving.

Let me get your opinion on this, and everyone elses opinion.
Do you consider my last install in my Cherokee a "buchered" install? I want you to think about it for a bit before you answer. Think of all the good and bad before you type.

This is a 8thcivic forum.Your install in a cherokee has nothing to do with your install in the civic. How about you shut me up with a video of you driving,or a picture with your hand and arm in a natural shifting postion with your ipod plugged into your homedock?

Do you find yourself not knowing what to do with your hand in between shifts.
I was talking about being able to rest your hand on your shifter.
