power wire to trunk...need some hep

OK....1st....I've searched and I've read all the DIY's....HOWEVER; for the life of me I cannot find this little plug that is supposedly above the throttle somewhere. I took out my SRI today just so I could see a little better in the engine compartment and I could see nothing. I also climbed under my dash upside down looking for that plug and could never find it. I imagine it is under the insulation that is against the firewall on the inside of the car. All I could find is where the main wiring harness enters under the dash.

When any of you found your firewall plug did you have to cut into your firewall insulation? And if so...is the plug to the upper left or right of the throttle?

Any help is appreciated.

yes I just realized I spelled "help" wrong in the title

use the hole that is behind the driver's side fender. you can see a plug if you look under your dash to the left by the dead pedal.

My firewall insulation has that little hole...just like in the pic...but there is no plug behind it.

Hey man I wired my power cable through where that main wire harness you saw is. I shoved a socket wrench extender through the rim of this rather large rubber gasket with 2 flaps on it. After I had that shoved through I fished the 4 gauge wire next to the socket wrench extender and pushed it through until I could see it inside the engine compartment. I pulled it through as far as I needed and then pulled out the socket wrench extender and BLADOW!!!!!!! I was finished with the WORST part of my install. It is a pain in the ass I will not lie but what part of getting through a firewall isn't??? I have some pics of my power wire going through my firewall on my post in I.C.E. titled "My Install." If you have any more question than just PM me and I can help you out further.

I connected my Pioneer Amp directly to the fuse box located near drivers side kick panel...Along the bottom row of fuses theres some empty fuse sockets I wrapped the power lead from Amp around a spare fuse and pushed into one of these spare fuse holders ....Did the same for the Accessary lead except I used fuse No 35 which is used for factory Radio....

sorry, I was on the phone, so I wasn't paying too much attention.

But there are three grommets in that location, one is the cable that opens the hood and other two unused ones in the coupe atleast.

but they shd be stamped in the sedan too, you can look.

I am in the same boat, hole in insulation, nothing in firewall. Can we drill there? Can someone take a pic of the other side in the engine compartment?

Thanks,

I ended up using the drivers side plug, above the dead pedal. It wasnt hard at all, easy to get wire into engine bay. Interior heater FTW!

It took me a while and plenty of doubt, but I used the one right above the accelerator. I managed to get 8ga through there without any problems, I'd say 4ga would fit easily too, 2/1/0 might need to have some drilling done to expand it, there's a black bit of tubing in there already, but it houses a 22ga wire, so you can easily fit everything else alright, It comes through into the engine bay behind the intake chamber. A little down and to the left. It's a perfect spot to run cable if you're going to take out the center console and channel all power through there. So much easier than taking off the trim panels along the doors etc. Good luck!
