Where do you hook up the wires if you don't have a factory sub? Just use the speaker wires? Can you still use the speakers if you are pulling the amp signal from the wires?

You'd most likely tap the rear speaker wires to connect to a LOC, which will connect to your amp w/ RCA's.

Yes, you can still use the signal for the other speakers even if you tap into it.

I did the install today and tapped a violet/light purple wire with silver stripes right under the interior fuse box and it didnt work.
I had to stick a few thin wires in with the 7.5amp radio fuse and use it as a turn on lead. Not really liking that, but oh well. Dont wanna take the dash apart until I go aftermarket.

Stock HU

I'm kinda new at installing this stuff myself so i got a few questions.

1-Can i still adjust the aftermarket Sub level with the stock HU (the actual sound level)? Cause that would suck if the subs were on the same level all the time.

2-Can I still use the stock amp for the stock speakers and just power the aftermarket sub with the aftermarket amp? Or would that not work?

These questions might have been sorta answered earlier in this thread but i'd just like to clarify.

Thanks in advance!!

I would love to do this for my Si, but I feel it would drown out the factory speakers then. I really would love to upgrade the subwoofer and interior speakers with the stock headunit, but i'll never get that clear sound that an aftermarket headunit offers. Sucks, but I really don't want to go that route.

I had the same issue. Do you have an 07? i was thinking they made a change for 07. in a resolution for my issue i punched a hole where all the wires were going through the firewall. some one on here already suggested this but i forgot who. but i did that to run my wire to my batt.

What do you guys think? If this works, this would make it very easy to install a sub into a factory LX stereo system without ever removing the factory HU. One question, where would the constant 12V on this hook up to in the trunk to be able to hook up the amp remote?

when I did this mod, i had only had the car 3 days, lol, and it was the best thing i did...
Same here, I drove my car from the lot to the stereo shop for the sub and tint.

Yes that, or any other LOC will work, there are some DIY's on teh site, if you do a search, to get the switched 12V for the amp turn on, I got an LOC that had it's own remote turn on so that was one wire less that I had to run.
Another sub/amp install

I found out a way to run the remote wire, i to have an 08. What i did was look at the fuse box under the steering wheel, i think its number 37 or something like that and put the remote wire inside of the holder and pushed the fuse in and it works perfect. If you read the fuse labling it should say Radio/ACC and itll say a number and thats the one you jam the wire into. Not really jam but you know what i mean.lol. The blue wire in the pic is the remote wire i ran from the fuse. Hope this helps

Here are better pic. The first pic shows the acc wire in the fuse and the second pic shows where you can find the Radio/ACC fuse if its not the same as mines. Oh and in my car the fuse holder is Number 35.

if you're putting in a larger amp, you will need to replace the sub. it can be maxed out with the stock amp. why put in a new amp if the one you have already pushes the sub to its full potential...
