This is doable right? Just tap the factory speaker wires and run them to the sub amp and there you go?

Not to dredge up old information, But the setup i will be using is a 1000 watt class d mono amp with two twelve kicker cvr dual vc speakers. Ill be running 1 ohm. Doing the splice thing and having the amp run at 1 ohm will not harm the factory HU correct.

Correct, but with 1000w RMS, you'll get some serious dimming, that's for sure.

this is very true, i have an MTX TA7801 (rated at 1200w RMS but easily puts out 1500w RMS) powering 2 10" 8500's. when i really turn up the bass at night my lights dim way down. i'm installing a kinetink battery and beefing up all of my ground wires soon. if that doesn't take care of it, which i don't think it fully will, i'll also add a beefed up alternator...

One more question about changing batteries, I have a red top optima that i have to put in. With this having the drive by wire when i change the battery will it mess up the car. I know on volkswagons when you change the battery you have to have the dealer hook it up on the computer to actaully get it to run again.

i haven't replaced my battery, however i have disconnected it several times with no issues other than having to enter the radio security code...you'll be fine

why not just add 2 farad capacitor? that should help with your headlight dim.

I have 1 question. Since the wires going to the LOC are coming from an amp could you fry the LOC by turning the sub control up on the HU? Idk how much power the stock sub amp puts out but If its too much I could see it POSSIBLY causing a problem.

No, it probably won't.

it's not misinformation. capacitors store electricity. When when you are drawing too much power off of your battery, it will draw from the cap. It definatley helps ease the load off of the cars electrical system. is this the only means of stopping headlight dim, no, but it does help.

Wow...here we go again.

let's stop this dead in it's tracks:

This is a pretty generic statement, but for the most part is true:
Capacitors are good for rock, but no so much for most hip-hop.

Reasoning:
The capacitor has time to charge itself back up between heavy bass notes on rock. Most rock songs are a simple *thump, thump, thump* beat.
However, alot of rap (and non-rap as well) have bass-drawing songs. Like, *thuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudddddd, thuuuuuuuuuuuuudddd*. Think of Young Jeezy tracks. Some of those will draw out a bass note for a very long time. How can your capacitor recover from that?...it can't. So, instead of charging back up for the next round, the capacitor stays empty and you're now back where you started; the battery via the alternator.

Oh, and your alternator charges up your capacitor, your battery doesn't.

i agree, i said It would "help" and it's not the only means of stoping headlight dim.

Maybe someone misunderstood by saying i was giving "misinformation"........

I would post a rebuttal, but I'm not in the mood. Good luck with your caps.

For anyone reading this in the future:
No, it definitely does not do this.

Where does the cap. get it's current from? The alternator. The alternator doesn't want to be charging something else when it's already being strained to its' maximum potential.

Caps are good for keeping current constant (a buffer if you will) for SQ applications.

"...Capacitors work by storing up power during low-draw passages, then sending it to the amp during loud musical hits. Not only will you get smoother, more consistent bass performance, you'll protect your car in the process..."

They have a pretty good explanation. Take a look and be your own judge.

All i ever meant by getting a capacitor, is that it will HELP, but it is not the only thing you need.
