is there a switched 12v source in the trunk area? I'm at the point of finalizing the wiring and need a remote turn on. Any help would be great!

just a cheap solution

so everything everyone has said in here has been extremely helpful, and after looking around, i have found a good amp that will work with the stock HU (i just like the look of the stock one in the lx coupe model.) it will by no means give crazy hard hitting bass, but it gives a pretty good amount of thump. its a DUAL xpa2500. it comes with all the wireing you need to use the stock HU (except the + and - from battery) the amp runs about 60 bucks, im not sure if its just the box im using that makes it sound good or not, but here is some pics, hopefully this will help someone with finding a good amp for some better bass.

this is one of the box im building, out of MDF and fiberglass

I have a 15 inch solobaric with a 600 watt rms amp...I had best buy do the install, however I was there each step of the way as I wanted to see how they did it compared to my plans...only difference was where they ran the wires...

the LOC is hooked up to the stock subwoofer in the back so it is already filtering out the lows to the stock sub.

I also have the nav so having somebody do the installation was critical for me so I didnt mess with any wires. What I will say is that some of these LOC converters have an additional gain on them so for some of you not pleased with your system take a look there. It is usually a small knob and may have been overlooked!!

The LOC that I got detected when there was signal going to the speakers...I just had to connect my remote line to that and good to go .

Nobody's had to install a peak capacitor? Just me?

how do you go about installing the remote wire on a factory navigation premium sound unit without the amp staying on all the time, even when the car is off..

Note: If u need the stereo code, on all 8th gen civics u will find it on the side of your glove box, when u open the glove box and look on the left side you will see a sticker with a 5 digit number on it! That is your stereo code!!

Thanks for the guide! i googled how to do this to my 08 civic lx and found this! So i made an account on this site.. Only thing i did different is i didnt use a LOC i just spliced my rca cable straight to my left speaker and pluged it into my amp. Didnt think a LOC was nessary casue my amp has line in ajustment, and hi/lo frequency adjustments. As for the remote wire im just have it connected right to my power wire, dont want to do anymore cutting of wires so im going to wait and get a fuse wih a piggy back.. only thing ive noticed is when i shut my door kinda hard the sound is amplafied through the sub? and i dont know if its just me being picky but some songs seem load at first then the bass dies right down, i think its because i need to adjust my hi/lo frequency settings, but when i had this sub in my old 4runner i never had this problem however it had an aftermarket deck.. which could controll the sub and only the sub, my bass adjuster on my HU just controlls all the bass at once.

thanks again for the great post, any answeres to my problems would be great!

i just finished running the power wire to the trunk from the battery. call me dumb, noob whatever but my buddy (who knew some **** and had a crx so he done that before) and I it took us 4 hours in total. figuring out + work + honda's dumb way of connecting **** together.

but yeah now im getting this weirdo sound when i turn the steering wheel and im kind of confused from what it is.. like the tire on the front-left side is rubbing against something when i checked and it doesnt so im like wtf..

now one thing, can someone explain a bit more how to connect the switch for the amp? can it be done automatically?

Did you tap a power to Your remote line??? Because if you wire the remot line to the remote only with out the power in on the other side of the remote then I can see why it won't work. Ground? Is that a good ground you have?

i got it to work by tapping it into the fuse box. now just running the power wire through the firewall is a pain
