which signal ? a signal to turn on your amp, or a signal to play music.

its pretty invovling amp'ing up speakers, its not like a sub where all is needed is a power wire and a ground.

if you still wanna have L/R F/R control over the speakers. you need to tap into each speakerline and run wiring from speakerline to the amp's speaker line input, then route wiring to each speaker.

either way it requires opening up the dash to tap into the harness, or opening up some doors and reardecks to tap into and run a return wire to the speakers. plus tucking the wires underneath your carpeting. its alotta work

depending on the radio aftermarket with quality pre-outs is better.

amp/sub on factory head unit

good job, i recently ran a amp/sub off the back deck speakers. i tapped the one side , powered the amp and boom!. it really worked well because i had two types of bass control. one for the factory 8" and the main bass which increased or decreased the sub. trust me when both were maxed, it gave a fabulous bang for the buck. i recently decided to go all aftermarket on every thing and did it myself. i now have a jvc head unit w/ true 35 rms (best head unit i've ever seen)a mono 1200 watt amp w/ 12" sub, another 200 watt amp driving my kicker 8" i replaced factory deck sub, and replaced all speakers with pioneer. woooo!

If you don't like the single-din receiver, you could always go for an aftermarket Navi. That's what I did and the pre-out for the sub makes it sound really good.

Pioneer Avic F700BT

I think it looks better (or nearly equal to) than stock... and much more useful!

I don't know if anyone has answered the L.O.C. question about why they sound better.

The speaker wires carry enough voltage to power speakers (obviously), where as RCA's are meant to carry lower, crisp, clear voltage between 2-5 volts usually. What a L.O.C. does is it inputs a speaker signal and lowers the voltage to a clear voltage, then you run RCA's to the amp, and then the amplifier brings the voltage back up to a high voltage to power the speaker, PROPERLY.

The problem with soldering RCA's right onto speaker wires, is that the RCA is now carrying high voltage, which was never down graded to a lower voltage, so that amplifier will send out a more distorted, lousy signal, which is why if you're looking for a quality sounding system, spend the extra 50 bucks and just buy a L.O.C., they're easy to wire, figure out you're factory speaker wire colors, and wire like this

Universal E.I.A. wire code

White - FL+
White/Black - FL-
Grey - FR+
Grey/Black - FR-
Green - RL+
Green/ Black - RL-
Purple - RR+
Purple/Black - RR-

Help Please

I have follwed this install to the T. Got a Stinger LOC. Now here is my problem. When I turn the car off, my sub thumps. When I put the gear from park into drive, it thumps. When I'm braking, and let go off the brake, it thumps. I'm thinking its my ground. I have my remote wire jammed into fuse #35, with no switch. My LOC has a ground, but I did not ground it. When i grounded my amp, i sanded down the spot and drilled a hole, but maybe i didn't take off enough paint maybe. If anyone can help, it would be great. Thanks so much

so you don't have to open up the head unit and connect wires from there?

you can just hook up the audio cable from your truck becuase the speaker wires are already visible?? im new to this

i mean you get the line out converter and get the audio singal from the speakers in the trunk and from there you hook up the RCA cables from the line out converter to ur amp and frm ur amp to ur subs?

powering my amp is no problem

THIS IS AN ADDITION FROM MY POST ABOVE!

2. For the remote wire, I connected it to the LOC wires (see 1) that connected the stock subwoofer. Gives the same same signal to turn on and off when you start your car. And seemed to be a little less hassle.

Just a thought. No pics yet. But if u want some let me kno.
How did you connect the remote wire to the loc wires I might be makowning it harder then what it is so idk lol.

This my guess you connected the loc to the factory sub wires then you connected the remote wire to the positve of the loc and factory sub wire.

Is that correct? Any problems with this way?

I NEED SOME HELP!

2007 Civic Si Fiji Blue.

Im wiring up a 4Ch. Amp for my door speakers and both back speakers.

Im going to just go straight to the head unit for this.
One thing i do need is the wiring for the speakers on the back of the HU. FR, FL, BR, BL.
-Im gonna go to the ACC (red wire on black harness) for the Remote.

-But what i really need to know is where im going with the RCA cables. The stock head unit does not have RCA plugs like the Navi system.
Another question - will i need an extra set of RCA cables for my rear speakers or will one pair work fine? let me know.

Ive heard of going through the sub wires via LOC than LOC > Amplifier. but i wanna keep my sub on and just juice up just the speakers.
Where can i splice the LOC to the head unit? and do i need two (2) LOC's to run a 4way?
Anything would help guys, ive read all the Threads in 'Audio' forum.
If i could start a New Thread for wiring up a 4Ch. Amplifier i would, but cant.

Thanks 8th.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I have found the Wiring for the speakers on the 2nd page of this thread.
But i need to know where the RCA wires will be spliced. Can they be spliced into the same wires as the speaker wiring?
thanks guys

Tapping both Left and Right Rear speakers is correct. I dont think that tapping both will make too much of a difference. the stock HU amplifier filters alot of the mids and highs.
The subwoofer ultimately filters out all highs and most mids. the speakers on the other hand have more of an even ditributution.
go ahead and tap both/or one of the rear speakers.
The ACC (Remote tap in) is on the lager harness plug behind the HU. It is the only violet wire on that harness.

Isn't your lighter fuse always on? This way you can use the lighter when the car is off - but it also means you're amp is always on - not good!
