I visit there quite often, but I'm down here in Kadena (Okinawa) for now.
Here's my number one tip for ANY noob to Japan....... DO NOT BUY A SKYLINE! Especially an R33! Trust me, when you get here, you'll understand why. If you have to have a Skyline, spend the money and get a GT-R. You can get a decent R32 GT-R for $4-$6k and a decent R33 for about $9-$12k. If everything works out, I'll be Yokota in about 2 years, but we'll see. |

Be prepared to spend some $$$ if you wanna bring a US car with you.
If you can get it on your orders, shipping will be free, if not you are looking at about $1500 to ship it over here. It will arive and you will have to register it as an "E" plate, which basically makes it impossible to sell to a Japanese person. Annual road tax for an E-plate is about $400 I believe, and your initial inspection will cost anywhere from $1500-2500 depending on a few different things. |

Standard R34 Skylines are even worse IMO. Most come with a stupid RB20 or RB25 NEO, the turbo R34's are kinda ok I guess, but they still don't have that agressive look of a GT-R.
GT-T ![]() The standard non-turbo models look even less agressive. IMO the only Skyline worth a crap is the GT-R. Or the classics. |
