Due to users abusing the Chat threads, and violating the site rules in them, the old threads have been closed and new ones opened only under these conditions:

  • Posts related to selling items absolutely will not be tolerated.
Any failure to comply with this rule will result in the member being banned without question, and if this continues to be a problem the thread will be permanently closed and all duplicate threads will be closed as well, with the OP's account subject to administrative actions taken.
  • No street racing posts, no exceptions.
Don't try to be clever in circumventing the rules either, it's pretty obvious when a racing post is legal or illegal, this includes activities that take place on "closed roads/airstrips" and suggestive locations like at "the track" to avoid confusion provide time slips. If there is any doubt the post will be deleted.
  • Do not argue and bicker.
This is supposed to be a friendly place, not a battleground. If you have an issue with another member please either take it to PM or notify a moderator so we can mediate the problem and, hopefully, resolve it.
  • Posting any nudity or links to pornographic sites (or sites with pornographic ads) will result in an instant ban, no questions asked.
  • No posts in any language other than English.
Failure to comply with this will result in the thread will be the thread will be permanently closed and all duplicate threads will be closed as well, with the OP's account subject to administrative actions taken.
  • No discussion of anything possibly related to copyright infringement.
This is a legality issue, and as such we take it very seriously.
  • No post whoring.
If you want to whore, take it to VIP,if you're not VIP, now is a great time to consider joining. Posts that are considered whoring will be deleted.
  • Don't violate any of the other rules found here.

If these rules are broken again, the chat threads will get closed and will not be reopened. Individuals who violate these rules will get a 7 day ban.

thats sick man! thanks for posting them up, hey did you install it yourself or had someone else do it? i think i might need some help when i get mines. Its seems pretty simple but i wanna be extra careful knowing myself haha.

#84 ·
yeah I did it myself.. I've been taking it on and off like so many times, it's cake.

There's nothing that can go wrong haha.. BUT
I've had so many problems with mine. The first time, I was using different bolts to install it and the tips broke inside and I had to get it cut out and re-fiberglassed.. that took 2 weeks and $150. If you look at the first picture it's raised and since it's so light it swings up hard when you open it and eventually it just gave and broke. It's been at the bodyshop since.. I dunno how much that's gonna cost me.

Damn thats scary, the trunk itself is around 500ish isnt it? and dropping another 200 or so makes me have second thoughts. hhmmmm

what do you guys do and use for oil changes?

I want to do my own changes using Genuine honda filter and AMSOIL 5w30 since the oil life monitor sucks ass anyway.

I have never owned a car with warranty so I dont really know if it has to go to the dealer or not ( do they record change intervals under the vin #) for oil changes.

and doing the oil change potentially might help with my smoking problem, as the previous owner i think used 5w40 in the summer, which to me seems stupid to run what isnt recommended on a stock engine

I use Royal Purple 5w20 (R18) and K&N oil filter.

With your warranty, you are able to take it wherever you please as long as you get a print out each time and a list of what was done. It should abide to what Honda would normally do.
Like I said, I do it with my uncle and he just does whatever I say needs to be done and prints it out. Keep them for your records for the future in case you sell the care or get in trouble with Honda so you can show that you've been caring for it on your own.

Matt, I'm not too sure about what you'd do if you do it yourself. I would guess you'd keep receipts of the oil/filter or whatever you bought and keep a log. But that still doesn't prove much.

You should check beyond for that.

Adnan, I got the trunk at a good price. $480 I believe.. however, now it's like almost $700 or something.
the J's wing is like $1300 hahahahaha, I'm starting to slow down with the car.

Yea man I hear ya, we need jobs like 4doorj to afford all these mods haha, what does he do anyways. He's got like 3 cars!

#100 ·
hoanger what kind of camera and lens do you have? My friend that I work with has a kick ass camera, his is the Nikon D300 with like a $3000 lens, some of the picture he takes are amazing, he also does HDR stuff. Im getting him to take some pics of my car, hopefully he can take some before the white stuff roles in.

In regards to my other thread on the smoking issue i have on cold start i have some developments:

Upon contacting T&T, Calgary Honda and Honda West, I have gotten the same reply, all of which being essentially if there is no engine code, there is nothing wrong. -which clearly there is.

The aforementioned dealers would then procede to say that we will be glad to diagnose your problem for the applicable 118/hour diagnostic charge.

I then proceeded to email Okotoks Honda - formerly high river honda, I was expecting the same result. To my surprise this is the response i got:

"Hi there – we would be happy to have a look at your vehicle for your concern – please book an appointment thru me – if you would like to email me a request we are booking for next week.

Regards, Shane Matthews Service Mgr."

So by going 15 minutes outside of calgary I went from this:

" Being that the vehicle has already been looked at by two other dealerships I would suggest involving the Service Manager and/or Shop Foreman at either one of them. I think having them continue holds more value than changing dealers again.

regards, Bob McCrae
Honda West" -email 1

"I am not sure at this point that I would do anything differently then they already have. If you wish to have us investigate the issue then we certainly can. Diagnostic work is done at $118.00/hr. If a warrantable defect is determined then the diagnostic time would be applied to the warranty claim.
If you woud like to schedule an appointment then please contact me at 403-685-6229. We are currently booking for the week of Nov. 3 - 7.

regards, Bob McCrae
Honda West." -email 2

My original email to honda west and Okotoks Honda:

"Hello,

My name is Matthew Robertson, I have recently taken over a lease on a 2008 Si sedan.

A few weeks ago I noticed the car let out a puff of grayish/white smoke when I started it, which immediately went away and then was followed by the normal condensation of the car running. It has since done this almost every time the car sits for a few hours and then is started again.

I have been to both T and T and Calgary Honda, and neither of the dealerships are willing to help, they have told me unless there is an engine code there is nothing they can do. (how can there be an engine code when this happens only after the car has been off for several hours, and runs excellent when it is on - No smoke, no hesitation, nothing).

I am by no means mechanically inept and know my way around a vehicle fairly well, I have been monitoring this issue since it started which has been roughly 3 weeks, I have not seen a visible loss of oil or coolant within the 3 week period, as well as I have run tests whereby someone follows behind the car while driving to see if there is any visible burning while under load, which there is not.

I would like to get this problem solved as the car is still under warranty and I have only had it for 3 weeks, as I stated previously the car is a lease takeover, it has 28,000kms on it, and has always had synthetic oil used.

I would like to hope that you and your dealership are willing to help with this matter and that I have finally found a dealership that I like doing business with, as well as my car will soon be in need of an oil change.

Please see the following links to YouTube videos of my car when it does this. (easiest way to describe and see the issue)

Link 2: YouTube - another puff of smoke

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon"
