I met a rock truck flying down a two lane highway (had to be going at least 80 mph) and when he passed me he threw a rock into my car. It hit my hood (left a good sized dent, about what you would expect from golf-ball sized hail) then it bounced off the hood into the windshield cracking it.
I could get it replaced using the insurance, after paying my comp ded., however, I wanted to look into paying it out of pocket. The local glass shops quoted me about $900 for the window
Anyhow, just out of curiosity, I checked out an online parts place, and this is what I found:
2324848 GLASS, FR. WINDSHIELD (GREEN) (ASAHI) $647.66
2319320 GLASS, FR. WINDSHIELD (GREEN) (PPG) $299.21
This is from the parts lookup on majestic honda (the first hit on google) and you can see two parts numbers for a front windshield, with a obvious price difference. So...the question is...what is the difference? I guess I need to know what ASAHI and PPG mean? Any ideas?
