BMW is no longer about the driving experience and more about how you look driving one, IMO. That isn't to say the cars don't deliver a great driving experience--but that has become secondary to the Armani-swathed consumerism that's attached to the branding of the car.
Among the ppl I know who drive a BMW, there's only one that would even take a remote risk of gunning it in the twisties. The rest like to look spiffy in them while cruising to the local Whole Foods.

I pretty much agree. Maybe it's just a Cali thing, but here BMW and Benz is just a status symbol. Most of the drivers are pricks who will never use the performance offered in these cars. I personally think they are overpriced, but to each their won. I supose living near LA and seeing every other motherfing car be a BMW or Benz has really killed it for me...I'd just go for an Evo or Sti for the performance or an Acura/Lexus/Infinity if I wanted luxury...simply better priced...
