First post here but I'm not a newbie to the car scene. Been building up and modding my rides since I was 15, over 30 years now.
Here are some pix of my Alabaster Silver '06 LX sedan, 5-speed manual. Bought it mostly for the great gas mileage at first, but have really grown to love the way it looks and drives.
I seriously considered buying the Si, but I wanted gas mileage and needed the extra room of the 4-door sedan (I am an 'old guy' afterall), plus I have other performance cars to drive If I feel the need for speed. The LX runs great with 140 HP, very satisfied and will be keeping the car's drivetrain bone-stock.
My Dad had a new Civic back in '74, I was beating around in it in '76 whenever my own car wasn't running. At the time I was driving '57 VW Bug with a 1756cc/twin-40mm Weber carbed engine that ran 14.30s at 92 MPH in the 1/4, quicker than a new Si. A year later when I was 18 I upgraded to 1835ccs and 48mm Webers and a better cam, 13.70s at 97 MPH was the result. I'm not new to 4-cylinder performance but I did it with 'old-school' air-cooled German cars 'back in the day'.
I was always impressed with how well the '74 Civic performed for a 4-speed 1237cc car (52 HP), handled good too even with the little 155-12 tires. It wasn't hard to make the decision buy my own new Civic 32 years after my Dad bought his.
Here are some shots with the stock 16x6.5" steel wheels/caps and some with my new gold-painted 18X8" O.Z. Ultraleggera wheels with 225/40s. I just installed them last night (the only mod I'll be doing to it), the car has 1950 miles on it now since taking delivery on 2-20-06.
