who closed this thread, and why..

Fridays this Friday 7pm (IL)

you mods should make a post saying "im closing this thread due to.." instead of just closing it.. i want to see which mods are closing these not even close to borderline threads.. i cant believe that more than a few of you would close posts at this rate, so im sure its only 2-3 mods.. perhaps you have ocd and you love to close threads? i dont know, but something needs to change, because this is ridiculous; i have never seen a forum close so many threads in my life

There was a thread a few weeks ago concerning the battle endless side skirts and the fitment issues concerning them. It had quite a few posts...6-8 pages worth and was locked for whatever reason. After Mugen Kid's ROTM photographs, a lot of us were looking into their side skirts...info just stopped in it's tracks when the thread was locked. Wondering what the reason was for that one getting closed while we're on the thread locking subject.

I didn't perceive any vendor bashing, just reasonable questions and comments that were helping all of us who were interested in the side skirts to make a more informed decision. Without a resolution in the thread, which is now locked...we're forced to guess at the state of the side skirts...a item which cost $250 to buy, and 500-600$ for a body shop to correct, and several hundred over that to paint. Many of us don't want to spend this kind of money only to find out it will take weeks and hundreds more dollars to correct. Wondering if protecting the dozen or so Vendors on this site is of a greater concern than protecting the thousands of members on this forum.

No, this thread.

Mugen style side skirts for COUPE available now!!!!!!!

Maybe things degenerated, moderator cleaned it up and then locked it. Either way, when I was doing research on the side skirts and began reading all the posts, after 20 minutes or so I came to the last post, and was quite disappointed to see the thread just stop and that it was locked. I felt cheated. Maybe because it was on the Vendor's pages...Maybe if this thread had been posted in the "make it look nice" section, it would have been tolerable.

Anyway, just curious. Thanks for listening.

on that link - I looked in the history, and it was closed by myself. This was battle's thread, and they PM'ed me that they were not selling it - [and to close the thread].

Looking at the content, it says they had fitment issues, and it would be at least another month till the new ones would be in.

New Side skirts and Exhaust installed!!
his pics installed

I can get BE to comment in this thread if you'd like, but it seems clear, there was an issue with size/fit - so they are trying to resolve it. I would assume they will start a new thread with updates on the kit when it's resolved from the manufacturer.

Would you like me to PM BE for more info?

Might be nice to have a statement like this:

Sorry guys, due to fitment issues, we have currently stopped selling the Mugen replica sideskirts until further notice. We are working with the manufacturer on the fitment issues thanks to your feedback. However, seeing as we are not the manufacturer/producer of this item, we can only hope they decide to re-tool the mold in order to improve/correct the current fitment issues. There are significant costs however in R&D and in designing a mold. This may or may not be high on the priority list for the manufacturer however. While we would like to have your business on this part, your busines is only worth having as long as we can provide parts that deliver in all aspects from value, fitment, consistency, and most important...customer satisfaction. If we feel that the necessary changes have been made to correct the side skirts (should they be made), we'll let you guys know here on our vendor section of this forum via a new thread. Thanks for your patience 8th civic members.

Would that be so hard? I just typed that out in 5 minutes. Feel free to copy this if this is truly what is going on as I suspect it is.

Dave

Also, Kelly.J updated the thread twice. Page 14 and 15. Check those out. Plenty of info there.

when BE tested fitment to some coupes before, there was no fitment issue.
as BE said, it fitted perfect.
as you can see, from the pics that BE posted before, couldn't see the problem which I had.(test fit for a blue coupe and BE coupe.)

fitment issue has not been a problem before, and also it should not be.
but while producing parts, there were a few made wrong, and it was unfortunately delivered to MugenKid and me.

as it fitted perfect before BE doesn't need to re-design these side skirts.
since MugenKid and I had same problem to install,
I think BE will order their suppier to make side skirts acurately(without any calculations or manufacture false).

whatever the reason is, I'm the one who got parts didn't fit now,
and BE said they are gonna solve this problem, and give me another set,
because it should fit exactly(like before when they tested),

so for now,
to wait these side skirts, and see how it fits is the best we can do.

I know choices(to buy them or not)is all your own but,
in my opinion, it is early days yet to ask refund or to be so critical about BE.

so...
as I said, let's be patient.

I'll find out the problem in this week,(if it's too late maybe next week.)
if it doesn't fit again, then BE will say someting, or post something here.
but if it fits like BE said before,
you guys can buy this stuff without a doubt.. right?

I'm gonna take a pic for sure, whether it fits or not,
because I want to share this problem with you guys and BE.

I'm kind of sad because I need to wait more...

though we have to see how it will fit our car,
the problem has been solved I think.(or will be solved soon.)

and.. one more thing, the side skirts I got was the worst, Kenneth said,
the gab between skirts and side panel was bigger than MugenKid,
so.. he informed to supplier what's going on,
finally he recieved the answer(above) from the factory..
and, not sure exactly when new parts are coming,
only thing that I know is I have to wait about a month or two, or even more.

if I want, BE said, they will give me a refund because they don't want me to wait that long.
but I chose not to, as I'm gonna buy side skirts anyway...
it looks sexy!!

I think this is the end of the story for now..
I just hope that they make the new one little bit lower than it was used to be lol

if anybody has talked to Kenneth or BE,
will know right away that those guys are nice and kind.
that's why I'm not mad at them at all.

so...
let's wait till the new side skirts are coming!

Not exactly sure what you mean there, but if you see issues in the forums, report it. Mods have real lives, just like everyone else. We have jobs and families and friends. We don't get to look at every post in every thread, so we may miss something. Let us know if you see something suspect and we'll handle it appropriately.

Yes, but all second hand info. That's why I was hoping for a post from BE themselves about the state of the skirts, not really satisfied with the second hand info completely. You know how it is! Thanks for explaining all this, I just felt that an explanation from the horse's mouth was warranted in this case since so many people were frothing for these side skirts. To leave the whole thing hanging on heresay(second hand info) was unsatisfactory and lowered my opinion of BE.

Mugen style side skirts for coupe

hi guys, sorry for the late reply and we didnt check this section often. The reason we closed the thread of mugen side skirts for coupe because we found out the fittment issue then we decide to stop selling it until we solve the problem. And we're starting to make a better mould now, hopefully we will have it done in 2-3 months. Sorry for the inconvenience, please keep checking our vendor section or you guys can pm your email address to follow up!!

Thanks

Thank you BE. My wish was granted. Good communication eliminates that uneasy feeling you get purchasing over the internet. Looking forward to the re-worked Skirts =) Mods, thank you for working together with Vendors in this case to improve the flow of info & communication. This is the type of support that makes the 8th a cut above.

You just have to make a little noise, or else we won't know there's a problem. Thanks for letting us know, and we're glad to help out!

whats wrong with for sale posts? you are allowed to sell things on here, so what gives? and what were the posts that were removed? i can see if somebody is like "lets race at 3am on this road" or something like that, but id say only about 10% of the threads that have been closed (that i saw), i saw a decent reason for.. another mod explained to me about legal issues you could run into, and i respect that, but ive seen ridiculous reasons for closing (or what appears to be, from the threads i read).. if a mod posted "this thread was closed because such and such" then maybe myself and others would understand more, but so far it appears like a bunch of crap.. and also, if you delete a few posts, then why would you close the thread also? that doesnt make any sense.. thats like taking a tiny moldy corner off a loaf of bread, and then throwing the whole loaf away..
