If you have read them you would know about rule #18

A little while back we closed all chat threads due to members breaking the rules. We started new ones with rules stated in the first post. This has been done with the Chicago chat. All the members from the thread: "Fridays this Friday" (the one you're referring to) have moved on into that. You're from the same area, why don't you participate in that chat thread?
go to any other forum, or any website, or anything, and you will find those same rules, but you will also find it more lenient.. the rules are there to 1. deter people from being idiots 2. cover your ass incase you need to take action (which is up to you btw, you dont have to enforce every little rule).. i bet i could find things in those rules that you are not enforcing at all, or at least not as much as others..

anyways, unless webby has come to you and been like "hey, why didnt you close this thread (for a super tiny reason)", then why would you go around closing threads like crazy? this didnt go on at the blackjack forum i was part of, nor a few other forums, and they all have the same rules pretty much.. i just ask that you give a reason you close a thread when you close it, as perhaps im overreacting and if i could actually see the reason a thread was closed i could say "ohhh, thats reasonable".. its to both our benefits.. and if there are like 20+ mods here, then that is your problem right there on why threads are closed a lot.. there should be like 6

because we had roughly 30k worth of fraudulent transactions take place through sales. I think that's a decent rough estimate.

You know how difficult it is to follow a sales transaction, or FIX a sales transaction that went bad in some bs thread, or outside the sales area?

I'm guessing if you bought something for 200 dollars, or even 1k dollars, you'd want help getting your product if the seller never shipped your part? What if the person walked off the boards and never replied to your PM's, Emails etc? What if you paid via money order? Where would you go, or what would you do?

You have any clue how many people contact me on a daily basis trying to fix their sales problems? Ask the # of people who've dealt with me begging for tracking #'s, refunds, contact info for a member, or whatever. Ask how many members have received help financially from me, fixed paypal fees, refunded vip fees, bank overdraft fees, or fixed shipping problems for them.

Some staff members do not deal with content on the boards. Some literally deal with nothing but issues in PM/email. Today is a perfect example. I've been dealing with email and outside issues this entire day. I've yet to get into content on the board and it's almost 4am my time. I've been trying to fix some unwanted issues pertaining to the site, but it has nothing to do with keeping the site content clean/safe. I've literally been on the phone almost the entire day.

Some staff members deal with nothing but back end administration so the server stays online,... firewalls, apache, mysql, linux, etc. Some are working on future projects to help the site grow.

I'd take a clone of the mods I have now to help w/things if I could do it.

Threads can and will be closed at a moderator's discretion. Yes, having them post a reason would be nice, but that too is at their discretion. You don't have to pay to use the site. You aren't forced to use the site. As for the number of moderators, there aren't too many. The larger a forum gets, the more moderators are needed to keep track of the different subforums. If there were six subforums, then sure they could get away with 6 moderators. 6 moderators, however, would be nowhere near sufficient to keep track of everything going on in this forum.

so do you allow things to be sold on here or not? if you dont, then all the sale posts make sense now, but what doesnt make sense is a thread getting closed just because one person made a wts post..

ya i guess 6 is way too little, i forgot about all the threads on here.. my point tho, is if they have time to close threads for little baby reasons, then they cant be that busy.. webby sounds very busy, and im told he is a great guy and its awesome how he has this site, so dont you think it would be best if you guys helped him with things that matter, instead of closing a thread due to off topic bickering? or somebody talking about how he got his car up to 130 mph? or how he just cut his seatbelts of with a knife? i mean cmon, stop nitpicking like you get a gold star for every thread you close, thats alls i ask of the mods.. ive never complained about threads being closed on any other forum (altho ive only been part of like 6 forums in my life), so dont think im some guy who just wants anarchy

Well, call it nitpicking, but rules are rules. And yes, you are allowed to sell 8thgen cars/accessories only in the For Sale forum.

And I can't believe you're still going on about this. When we closed all the other chat threads there were several members and a few threads discussing this very same topic. The others have moved on, why can't you?

IMHO, rules are there to be followed not to be lenient on. Especially on a large forum as this. I'd rather have a base of people following rules than being lenient on them...in which case we'd end up like Club Si...

And I was there when a lot of the chat threads are closed. It is relatively EASY to just PM a guy to see if they'll sell the item in question. Or have the guy link to a thread he made in the FS section.

This is a lose-lose situation for the mods/admins. If the post would of been deleted, and only the OP PM'd, someone else would of made a post wondering about it. On all chat threads the first post is reminding you that:

If these rules are broken again, the chat threads will get closed and will not be reopened. Individuals who violate these rules will get a 7 day ban.
Majority of chat threads were closed simultaneously to get the message across to as many members as possible. Absolutely no selling is allowed in chat threads. In the HTX Chat thread, it has come up a few times and I've asked the original poster to edit/delete their post, to keep our thread from getting locked up. Users that post in the chat threads need to take responsibility for their own actions and do their best to be sure all rules are followed by all members.

so because im responding to what other have said to me, that means i havent moved on? so then whats the point in making a thread about this if i cant respond and explain myself? btw, not once did i ever say that its bullshit that you cant sell stuff in random threads/posts.. everything im talking about is in general.. i do think things should be organized on this site, and things should only be sold in the for sale section, thats fine with me..

exactly.. bottom line for any type of crap is delete the POST.. if somebody creates a thread like "fg2 owners are fags and heres why" then obviously delete that thread, but if its something like "rsx-s or si?" and there is some bickering ALONG WITH valid points, then just leave it, its fine, its not bothering anybody.. or if a thread seems to be going nowhere, why dont you ask the op "this thread doesnt seem to be going anywhere, can i close it?"..

one more thing too, dont do the lock smiley or say "this thread should be locked", because you may ruin it for others who still want to discuss something, no matter how childish or pointless it may be.. instead, just leave the thread if you dont like it.. its like somebody in a chatroom who keeps saying stfu over and over instead of just ignoring the person.. oh wait, i have one super example: what if you were 12 and in line with your parent to go see an R rated movie (you must be 17 or have your parent with you to see an R rated movie), and some guy ran up to your parent and said "your letting your kid see this movie? did you know it has this this and this?" and then your parent says "oh it does? we arent seeing it then"..

im done posting here since it upsets 2fast, and ive said what i needed to say
