Was there ever a thought to just suspend rep privileges for those who abused it? Or even removing some rep from them ? Just a thought.

I personally liked the rep system. It's just one more thing that made 8th civic appealing. I thought it was cool that someone repped me for a good or funny post. That someone else validated it. I dunno. Some people just didn't care and thought it would be fun to see how many 8 balls they could get. Bummer. Mass punishment FTL.

While I definitely saw signs of abuse it was nice feature and it actually motivated me to post helpful things. I liked getting rep knowing that my post helped out another member.

God dammit...This sucks.

I liked reputation because new users (not always) often had a good idea of who to trust and who was respected on the site.

That's too bad. I really enjoyed the rep feature.

You ask me, I blame the whore threads. I didn't like the idea when they first started, and I still stand by thinking they're a massive reason for rep abuse.

Maybe reduce the reputation to 3 reps/day?

People will be more particular who they give it to.

I just blame the whore threads. Not insinuating that regular threads didn't contribute to it as well, but the whore threads are typically stupid banter full of useless jokes and conversation, and the whole point of rep is lost when it is being given for a funny joke or "just because they are new".

I didn't like negative rep being taken away (I thnik it helped keep people's mouth's clean) but I saw reason for it to go. I hate that the good rep is going .

What about no rep in the delete area posts and certain other subforums? I dont know, it bums me out.

That's an idea that's been tossed around, and I like that... it definitely helps with the issue.

i'm guilty of it a bit (didn't always give rep for content), so are a lot of you, don't pretend you didn't abuse it in some way.

we'll see what happens. i think a good solution would be to bring back the negative rep system. that way abuse could be reported.

just start it over if it gets out of hand.
