Search terms too short?

This morning I was attempting to search the forums for "DC Race Header".

I get the error message..

"The search term you specified (Dc) is under the minimum word length (3) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.

If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific."

Thoughts?

Yeah, this is quite frustrating since a lot of things I run a search for are short. I too was searching DC one day and it was too short. I did a search using MP3 once and also WMA and they all threw a flag at me.

I think we need to allow anything >1 letter... just my opinion

the search really sucks, easier just to ask someone to point you in the right direction. I don't know how but theres always someone who knows how to navigate this heap

A good alternative to getting around to this is by using the wildcard character, *. I guess you can't use DC in this example, so let's use BC (Buddy Club). Do an advanced search on BC*(titles only) and you will pull up relevant search results.

Hope that helps.

this was actually changed on me. The search was taken out of vb's hands and is run through the mysql database now. I wasn't aware - because I had all trim lines enabled in the search as well as DC.

The filter will be updated this evening when traffic is slower - to fix the 2 letter terms. I just wasn't aware the switch had been made by the linux admin

SO?, is VB on your server and under your command(IE pay once and you own it), or do you just pay a licencing title for the use of the forum?
