Why the search function on this site sucks...
Good day everyone.
![]() I don't know why our search function sucks, but I guess it just does. It's very difficult to use at times. At first I thought it was me. I thought that I didn't know how to use it properly. But after a while I realized that it can't be me. It just sucks. Here's proof. I wanted to see pictures of a sedan w/ a skunk2 exhaust. I typed in "skunk2 exhaust" and got this... http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/searc...archid=2087649 I then typed in "skunk2 exhaust pictures" and got this... http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/searc...archid=2087656 None of this was helpful. I didn't get what I was looking for. Now I know that there are plenty of pictures of civics with this type of exhaust because I've seen them before. Therefore, no one can say that I was looking for something that isn't there. Now I'm not making this because I feel that the search engine must be fixed, because I'm not really sure how possible that is. It may be too dificult to try to fix, who knows. The main reason that I do this is because there are a lot of ppl on this site that love to say SEARCH, like its really that easy to use! Anyone know why our search engine sucks? Are there tricks to using it? I'd love to get some feedback on this... |

Advanced Search FTMFW
![]() Just putting in a term in the regular search bar will put up every single thread that ever mentioned 'skunk' and 'exhaust'. That happens probably every minute of the day. Instead, use the Advanced Search option. There, you can specify specific sub-forums, specific members who posted, or tell it to even just search the titles of threads. It's a bit more robust and will narrow down the search results. It's not the best thing out there, but it's the standard among all vbulletin websites like ours. You'll find the Advanced Search pretty accurate once you learn to use it. |

Why the search function on this site sucks...
it's looking for every word ... skunk exhaust, etc. And it does it by date. sometimes it's helpful to see results as posts instead of threads. Show Results as Show Results as x Threads xPosts under advanced search |
