Angry Are mods abusing power????

It seems to me the very controversial topic of "x's intake" has fanboy mods' panties up in a bunch. i know that i would get bashed/locked real quick if i made a DIY thread that had NO INFO WHATSOEVER as in "X intake DIY + Install vids! (Coming soon)". I tried to post a simple DIY but i have "insufficient privileges" but mods are able to post empty threads showing us what "will be coming" i only ask that everybody be held to the same standard. Just as Jameslewis and IMauthentic were bashed for making claims without pics/vids, mods should be held accountable for BS posts like " X intake DIY + Install vids! (Coming soon) ".

Well, it was nice knowing you.

j/k I don't see why you should get banned for a complaint. Maybe though if it were pm'd instead though, but I still don't see any warrant for you to get banned (as long as we all can keep this civil).

Since when was x a mod? And I don't think x would be making s*** up considering he's sold his intake and has given proof to how well they work.

theyll send you threatening pms/ its like were behind the iron e-curtain lol

seriously though i think the mods do a decent job at weeding out unnecessary posts. especially over the diy intake threads. this site is meant for info, not gossip. i agree some posts they delete should remain, but all in all im happy to have them and i think they do a good job

I'm sorry that you feel that way. To be honest I've kind of kept out of the whole x intake thing for a number of reasons that I honestly haven't felt it was important or helpful to share.

The insight that I can offer is this.. The reason that you weren't able to post in the DIY section is because you would have to create a thread in an alternative section, pm the link to a mod, and have them move it. This way we can keep the DIY section to posts that we think are sufficient and helpful enough for other members. Otherwise they can remain where they were originally posted.

As far as the JamesLewis and Imauthentic thing goes it is simply none of my business. If you would like to have a few questions answered about it feel free to pm one of those 2 members and have a conversation about it.

Finally, with the threads started by various mods stating "coming soon" I can offer this explanation.. They might have simply got busy trying to take care of this site and not had time to completely finish this thread. I personally have been trying to post up a thread for 2 days now but I haven't had the time because whenever I get the chance to get on here my first priority is to deal with whatever needs to be handled. It's not that we're meaning to make it seem as if we're abusing our power, we just have a lot to take care of here and outside of the site.

I'm sorry that you feel that you've been wronged in some way but I hope that any of the explanations that I've offered have helped explain them. If not I guess that I just don't completely understand what is bothering you. If you would like to pm me about this so maybe we can clear it up feel free.

And yes, all in all, I feel the mods here do a great job at keeping this board from going to hell like some other websites (like that one site with the members who got beaten and robbed. Not naming which site but many of you know where I'm getting at...that site makes me feel sad for our education system)

Considering the huge rukus this intake business has been causing I think it is perfectly appropriate for a site sponsor, who's product was placed under criticism, to make a post saying that he has a DIY and videos coming that will argue for his product's quality and effectiveness. It's an announcement that DIY is coming, not claiming to be a DIY.

It has been necessary to maintain the DIY forums for a long time now. Normal chatting and random threads began to pop up in there so we had to put restrictions on it. You said you tried to post your DIY in that forum but it wouldn't let you so you assumed that means you weren't allowed to make one at all? I am not sure if that is what you were saying but if it was that is kind of an excuse.

the other thing you have to realize is that mods do their jobs for free. its not like theyre getting paid to monitor what you say, they do it to help out *correct me if im wrong*i have a feeling this thread is gonna blow up too.

I made the thread "X Intake DIY...(coming soon) thread for a reason!

I personally told people that I would have vids up TODAY! Unfortunately, it is taking me forever to get them uploaded to youtube! Totally out of my control! I merely wanted to let people know that I had not forgotten about this or am I neglecting it!

I immediately closed the thread after I created it as well...

I'm not an x fanboi or whatever...I happen to live 8 miles from X and he asked me to help him with a DIY...I said cool...I have now tried the intake and...well...it works...what can I say?

I fail to see how I'm abusing my power (assuming you're referring to me)? I have NEVER made any comments about any one else's intakes! Why? Because I don't have experience with them...

I hope this will help clear things up.

PS: I wasn't even gonna bring this up, but I spent around 12 hours doing all this (taping the DIY, editing the vids, computer crashing while converting, etc.)...I really don't want any criticism at this point...I am doing this for the aid of the community...as is X

I feel that you are one of the most fair and honest mods out there. im just a little annoyed that certain people can post and others cannot. I had tried to post a diy and was not allowed. you have to understand my attitude when i couldnt put up a valid informative post but i get to see an emptythread . Also count most of my rant up to a 12-pack of miller

i havent posted any DIY stuff but i guess i'll have to read up on the rules on what to and what not to post on it now. i'm planning on posting a diy on how to put on smoked/yellow vinyl tint soon since i'm trying to become a bulk seller =)

as far as the mods.. i feel that most are doing a good job. maybe some are messing with their powers but the majority of the mods and admins on here are keeping everything on the same level.

like he said if you have any questions feel free to PM me i have no problem sharing anything to help out, but i feel the mods on here are doing a damn good job, there havent really been any personal attacks thats lasted too long before a mod deleted things so they didnt get too out of hand. my props go out to them!

Yeah, that is true. Cali is pretty much busting his ass and as he said it isn't for X's benefit but our own. There is "the other" DIY video out there, and now there will be one for X. It will be up to the community to decide which they think is best.

Besides I really don't think anyone can accuse Cali of power abuse. He is a pretty laid back guy. I wouldn't call him anti-authority, but, you know what I mean...

We all <3 our Cali.

also, as an addition.. if you guys think this forum has strict rules.. try going on hidplanet. if you do ANYTHING slightly wrong.. you'll have about 20 guys posting you and telling you within the next few minutes. and theres no "private message" system there too so everybody is anal and whatnot. thanks mods for doing what you do, and doing it for free to help keep sites organized and free of chaos.

Brivis, I don't know the circumstance of your DIY posting but I might suggest posting it in a relevant section of the forum then asking if it could be moved to the DIY section. If it is a good one I dunno why it couldn't just be dropped in and added to the list. Let us know if you post it. DIY's are part of the lifeblood of many an online car forum.
