There is always thread ratings. It wouldn't show you who is cool/knowledgeable/anything-else, but it would show where the good, quality info is at.

Just because someone has a high post count doesn't mean they know what they are talking about. Also, just because one has a LOW post count doesn't mean that they have any knowledge on a subject.

Well, we are all on an equal footing now. I still feel the rep idea was a novel one and one that had merit. It was a way to show appreciation for something well said or done.

With that said, there must have been some ridiculous reppin' going on. What a joke for some people to be asking for reciprocity in giving rep. What would have been nice is to have been able to check everyone's user CP info on the rep they were receiving. Everyone then could have seen what was going on and could have reported it to forum leaders if indeed abuse was going on.

As for why I visit this site, I must say that I spend more time on technical things than anything else. On g35driver, I spent 100% of my time on water cooler type threads. Here, I mainly participate in things that I am technically interested in regarding my own Si.

This is still the best auto forum out there IMO. I enjoy this place immensely. There are so many helpful people and it is run by the greatest person I have ever met on a forum-Webby.

I could careless about the rep count i had or how many posts I have. But don't get rid of the deleted section on the forum. Like others have said, it's not just a "technical forum". A lot of us get on here on a daily basis and chat with others and just goof around to pass the time.

I'm pretty sure theres a good amount of members that feel the post whore threads are a waste of space, which is why in order to do so you must pay for VIP in order to use up the site's bandwidth. In return it isn't like the site is lacking valuable information in different aspects of tuning our cars. Why the hate against the whore thread when it's absolutely 100% ok to have cleavage threads and thong threads. I love those threads and I'm not saying to lock those out as well, all I'm saying is that if you want it to be a completely technical forum, then close out everything that DOESN'T DEAL WITH IT.

Its not about post counts or how much rep you have, its about learning about your car and meeting people locally or even regionally with people who share the same interests as you.

I'm willing to bet there's a good number of people on this site that meet another member thru here and are now some of the closests friends you have.

It's w/e though... like always.. someone has to be an idiot and **** it up for everyone else.
