I am the same...

I don't rep all that often only if someone said something that I respect their opinion on or helped me in anyway. IMO that is what it is supposed to be used for.

Is this your page? or a mod thing to see all rep?

That's a screen shot of the admin control panel for 8thcivic. We can see the rep/rep comments a user has given out or received in the past week/month/year/decade, etc.

Those "rep backs" are from the same person.

I saw that one person had done that to honda06si in his thread about the new feature and thought it was hilarious, but I had no idea that someone would go that far to get some rep.

I pm'd webby about my comment in honda06si's thread that said something to the effect of "that's awesome, I'm gonna have to try that" and explained myself, but I don't want people to think that I was saying I'm gonna start asking for rep so I'll clear it up here too. What I meant was I was going to try the feature that he had found, because I had never seen that before or even noticed it. I went to a couple of my old posts and clicked on them and sure enough a little box comes up. I was in no way saying that I was about to start giving people rep and asking for rep.

This is how admin screens look. I can view every reputation given from users, given by users, etc. This was from one user.... the last reputations given out by him, and the person he gave the rep to. I have the ability to delete rep, edit, or whatever. You don't have the ability to do this - but everything ever done is logged. This is just a screen shot of one user doing this.

Just ban that user Webby. When the rep was being abused before, your warning was perfectly clear. Now this is happening again? Just start banning the users that are doing this stuff.

got you, i had it backwards in my head. as in the user was recieving all that rep from the same user, instead it is actually the same user giving out the rep to diffrent people and signing it the same.

Then how about only offer it in the technical forums? Rep around here is seldom given for anything of any real merit, but more like props from your e-friends, as far as I can determine. I can take it or leave it.

I don't know that it should be limited strictly to technical information.. there's a lot more that goes on here than just technical discussions.

Rep should be for technical info etc, not for the ones where people ask for advise or where they are giving solely opinions. Maybe it should just go away? Or maybe you need to have over 100 posts before you can rep? Sometimes people just troll on here and don't contribute to the technical discussions.

You need 50 posts before you can give rep (that counts)...

I disagree. There are several aspects to this site. There is a technical side and a non-technical side (water cooler/VIP). Why should it matter if some one gives rep for a funny post (like Marc-o's chops for example) or somebody gives rep for a great DIY?? Either way, they've contributed to the site in some way...

Rep for worthwhile contributions as deemed by the other members of the community, but don't be expecting rep just cause you posted some pictures or something.

It has to be earned

I also disagree with the ban the member solution, while that could be a relatively quick and easy means of dealing with a problem, I think that would take something from the community.
