so i was reading rule #19

"19. "Low Balling" in the Marketplace is not allowed. This includes comments on price, where to get it cheaper or any inflammatory remarks. (8thcivic.com/moderators/admin is in no way responsible for any transaction that takes place through this site. We are not Ebay. Please read the full set of rules in the for sale area before posting a product for sale.)"

so if someone is selling something, and i or someone else knows where to get it cheaper, cannot tell them and help someone save some money?

Nice to see someone reading over the rules. :) But yes, as sbigshot has said, pm/email the member.

Another Suggestion.. if you have something to sell (for cheaper or whatever), you can start your own thread. Just don't hijack someone else's thread.

Sit back and think about this more. The section is for parts/cars that 8thcivic members are selling themselves. Situation: I make up a post for my exhaust I used for 2k miles and post it up on here for 300 dollars. _ User comes into my thread and says - I'll give you 30 dollars for it. That is low balling. Telling the seller that they are an idiot and that you bought the same exhaust new for 250 at _______.com and flaming them isn't needed. - That's inflammatory. Some people may find better deals that other. Just like no one probably paid the same dollar amount for their car from one dealership to another. Taxes are different, financing is different, dealership markups, destination fees, etc all are variable from one place to another. The rule was set into place because I've seen other boards where members tend to get into flame wars over what the seller sets a price at. Basically - if you don't like the sellers price, move on. You don't need to insult the seller.

Other times members say - well you can buy one here on ebay ____link for less. This is another area where the site can get into trouble. You're almost the one telling members that the ebay seller is verified by YOU as being good (even though you may have never purchased from them). There is no way to know from one ebay seller to another what the outcome will be like. Yes, there are feedback ratings, but it's just a gray area. If a member finds something on ebay or another site for cheaper and posts it in a sale thread, it just doesn't help matters. You may be giving them or other members a link to a company that takes 3 months to ship something, take your money and run or worse. In the past, I've just seen less problems in for sale areas when ebay linking is left out of things. I hope that clears things up some.

yeah its cool i understand but i mean i would just hate for me to pay 300 for something when i can get it from somwhere else for 200 or even 250. and yeah i understand the flaming thing too. i dont blame sellers for trying to get the most that they can out of what they are selling. money is money. but yeah your rules, ill do my best to follow.

Thought I'd resurrect this thread since this topic has been coming up as of late. Everyone who posts anything in the For Sale Forum should read this again.
