Youre my boy blu!, I was the one with the other thread complaining about that subforum. I think this is an excellent idea.

How about adding this?

"Any story that is not 1/4 1/8 or an auto-x race is not accepted."

I'm SO SICK of reading posts about how people smoked someone from like a 40mph roll to 130. How is that a race? That's to see who's govenor kicks in first? The only people who race like that are people who can't drive and their too scared they'll f up their launch or something. No talant is required if your starting from a roll and I really don't care if you were loosing until you hit 100 when you passed the person.

Also people need to find out what these people have done. "Well I'm pretty sure he had i/h/e. How can you tell the difference between if the guy has a fart box or some actual mods?

not too sure about that, since some races happen to be while the cars were already moving. That would be hard to eliminate.....i dunno.

Roll races are very common. Some actually even serve a purpose in measuring pure acceleration where launch skill and FWD vs. RWD issues are removed from the equation.

HOWEVER, most are simply "So I was going down the freeway and..."

I understand the benefits of a roll race however my whole thing is basically the beginning of the story you explained.

"So I was going down a road and this car pulled up along side of me and nodded his head so I nodded mine by the time we hit 130 i had him by 4 cars"

I understand that your rules will help keep these posts down however people will just stretch it out and make it even more pointless to say from a 40mph roll they took some one to 130mph. That's not a race i'm sorry. That's called speeding to see who can speed the fastest. No talent in a race like that.

M's thinks you have me confused with someone else. These are not my rules. I am just window shopping.

Heh, more appropriately it is called reckless driving, reckless endangerment, etc., and if you are caught doing it on the road you car should be smashed flat by a compactor (or auctioned for a charitable cause), your licensed pulled, and your head smacked...and if anyone was injured, you get to be their indentured servant until you work off your debt.

I knew you didn't create the rules, when i said "your rules" i was refering to the rules agreed on in this thread. And I agree with the punishment people should receive.

Got one more rule:

If you have a problem with someones post, report it to the mods/admins. You can either report the post or PM a mod/admin and then allow us to come in a deal with the person/post. We have much more effecient ways of dealling with people and their posts and can remove offensive parts of the posts.

This should help stop namecaling and other such arguements.

Race Related Rules: Read before posting
things will be added/changed as time goes on. For now I think the rules set in that post are a great start. Thanks for the suggestions/rules.

A legitimate kill story is one that is longer than 4 sentences and makes some sort of sense. Lately it seems like there are people looking for attention, they put the turd by the fan and when someone walks in to the thread....the poop goes flying.

Examples - posting a kill thread with just the car(s) you beat and little to no information on the race at all. Not only that but you managed to put it into 1 sentence. This is a garbage thread that is going to get people fired up....hence the crap hitting the fan. There is no need for that here.

This looks bad on the community and attracts undo attention to the 8thcivic forums. I think we need to set up a strict set of rules and sticky them on the race related forum.....if someone breaks any of the rules.....the thread dissappears.

I would just rather see better quality stuff in the race related forum and stop all the who's faster bickering.

My $.02

I say kill the Race forum all together. Let the forum be about legitimate *LEGAL* racing. It seems to be about assanine street racing. Several kids have lost their lives street racing in our area.
A forum like this allows trolls to post and add to the RICER stereotype of civic owners.

"8thgencicic.com, oh, thats just a ricer forum with idiots bragging about racing on the street"
