IMO high end boutique waxes are no better and are simply as waste of money.

Eh you guys are both right in a way, there are off the shelf waxes that really are garbage, and there are "boutique" waxes that are way overpriced and just a waste of money.

IMO, a wax or car treatment is in part only as good as the person using/applying it. If a person rarely washes and waxes their car and in general doesn't take great care of their paint, I don't care if there using Zymol Royale Wax (@ over $7,000) or some info-mercial garbage their paint isn't going to look that great. If a person regualrly washes their car and takes great care of their cars paint then it might be hard to tell the difference between say a Mothers or 3M off the shelf wax and a Zaino Bros. or expensive Zymol wax finish.

Me personally I have used all different types of waxes on my cars, Zymol Titanium, Japon, Paste, Zaino Bros. wash and wax and other detailing products, Mothers, Meguiars Gold, 3M waxes, and more recently Chemical Guys waxes. They all have there pros and cons, some are easy to put on and take off, others take longer to apply but offer longer lasting protection, some can be purchased at Pepboys, others have to be special ordered, and some cost a lot and some are cheap.

Currently I am very happy with the Chemical guys 50/50, and Pete's '53 waxes, they are affordable, quick application and easy removal, and leave a long lasting protective coating.

Using a machine or doing it by hand?

I use turbowax products their car wash and oxidation/ clay block are some of the best I have used... their waxes are pretty solid as well.

But for all out clean, wet, polished look with my DA polisher... Poorboys EX Sealant

Up until now by hand, but I do have a Porter Cable 7424 DA that I just haven't used yet on my own car, Iam currently using my sister older Civic as a guinea pig, haha.

I have heard good things about the Poorboy's products, but I haven't used them myself yet. I might have to give them a try with the DA eventually.

I have the same machine as you... works good!

Look into TurboWax their products are fantastic.... I detail as a side job myself... I have had really good luck with Poorboys stuff aswell!

But turbowax has a kit with rags, buffer pads, and their entire line of products for 150 bucks!

I still think high price waxes are a waste of money, but opinions vary.

Turbo wax isn't an UBER expensive wax.... it's just a damn good wax.

Meguiars is fine depends on what class and grade of it. Their OTC stuff sucks. Mothers is another good one you just need to watch what versions you buy... I use Mothers Reflections series... but since I started with TurboWax I won't go back to anything else.....

Check them out for yourselves....turbowax.com

Zaino is good, but it's products don't last as long, nor do they provide as much protection.

I have some 1000 XZillion shit that is supposed to be the "BEST" paint protection you can buy and yes it works good, but the POORBOYS EX sealant with Turbowax finish wax and swirl remover seems to be the best I have found!

:) try them and see what you think... I can post all day long show you pictures but unless you try other stuff... it's all just HEAR SAY!
