References - We assume you've been on the forums and have created a reputation through your interactions with others. We want to see how these interactions came about, how you handled it, and the outcome. Other people on the forums (either those in the same geographical area or those who frequent the same sections of the forum as you) are what we're looking to talk to as your "references".

I know it wasn't stipulated here, but I don't think we should be nominating others for the position of Mod.

As for applications being read - all are given equal opportunity, and the Staff have lengthy discusions on the possible nominations.

Marc, the reason why I brought this up is because of what I have observed in one individual in particular-Excalibur. Since he has applied for the position of a mod, I for one would like to give my preference to him, based on how he has conducted himself on the forum. I think he would be a great addition to the administrative board.

I realize that my recommendation probably has no value as I am not considered very highly here on the forum. I suppose I am not worthy enough to wash other people's cars, let alone nominate someone. To this I would say that I am probably the most hated person in the region I belong to, at least to a couple of individuals. To some, I am 8th Generation's version of the Antichrist.

I appreciate your willingness to discuss this. I only have the best interests of the site at heart. No matter how others see me, I have complete and total allegiance and loyalty to Webby. I respect him for his leadership, his commentary and for his being just an overall nice guy.

I have said my piece. The last thing I want to do is create controversy or trouble here. I love the site too much for that to happen. I do endeavor to be a peacemaker and to be as helpful as I can to others, regardless to how others see me.

No offense, but you are a little too eager to be a mod. You kind of remind me of Hillary Clinton in that regard, not to say that you wouldn't be a good mod.

I don't think most of us can appreciate the incredible amount of work the admins and mods do. While the rest of us are cruising the site in a relaxed way, enjoying different parts of the forum, the leadership is often sweating details behind the scenes.

There are the eternal quibbles and squabbles that will always exist, there are decisions about what is appropriate for the site, decisions to be made about site content etc. To me, it is a thankless job. I give kudos to those who give much of their free time making 8th Gen the site that it is.
