It's just a really dangerous road. Blind corners and the road is an idiot/hooligan magnet. Drunk driving could happen anywhere at any time, but they know that reckless driving will happen on this road.

I think that certainly things have gotten out of hand there but I wish they would at least allow some fun on the road. Maybe they could raise the speed limit to 45 mph or something. I think there's a balance there somewhere but I know it probably won't happen.

One of the problems in my opinion is that most of the local economy attached to the road is on the NC side of the border while the Dragon is right across the border in TN. So TN and Blount County really has little economic interest in letting people have a little fun.

Still, let me reiterate, we still had fun last year!!!

if u have radar, you will be alright. i mean come on, the speed limit is 45 on the NC side. u cant get going that much faster, maybe 55 60 tops. every1 just bring ur radars and 2 ways and we can all go on the same channel to call those ******* out.

Well if THP does pull me over, they are gonna look at my license and go WTF, then run the tag and go WTF. Pa license, DE Tag and the registration is in my mom's name, I am the owner of the car and my mom is on there as well and it comes up under her name.

I will say that the people who contacted the Governor and other officials, at least in the correspondence I saw, did so with minimal restraint or tact and quite frankly inflamed the situation.

Here's a hint, don't piss off the governor of your state. It's politics, you gotta kiss some ass, make someone look good, and earn them money at the same time.

Officials were probably already looking for an excuse to "shut down" the Dragon. Being belittled by a small loud mouthed minority in the community was just enough to do it.

Kind of retarded. When I first saw the letter he sent I just shook my head sadly. Anyone with any sense had to have known what kind of response was coming.

Only way to get Tennessee to back off is 1. They get pinched economically and don't have money to keep Troopers up there or 2. Have it make economic sense for them to bring more tourists. As of right now Tennessee has to pay for the whole road, and NC gets all the tourist money. You think they're gonna be a bit spiteful? If there was a general understanding that folks who came to the Dragon would go out of their way to spend some money in Tennessee and Tennessee in turn catered more both commercial and through law I think everyone would be happier campers. If you could arrange it so the governor looked liked a genius for capitalizing on catering to the tourist dollar in the area, so much the better.

It's ok though, we'll still have a good time.
