One tip though... don't cheat - aka cross the lane divider. Notice how I stay in my lane. This is very important. When we were up there one guy ran off the road and hit a tree after trying to correct for oncoming traffic.

Old Mini v. New MINI
Leave your friend at home.

I'm going to stress this year more than in years past about having fun without being stupid and not considering your ability to keep up with the car in front of you a measure of manhood.

Also, this post belonged in the "chat thread" where it has now been moved. It gets more difficult for me to figure out what's going on when the "I'll be there" thread is cluttered with off-topic posts that generate a bunch of replies.

Yup it's silver.

I get it today at lunch. I loved my civic, but I wanted some boost in my life.

Hopefully it won't cause me to much trouble in the ticket category though.

If either one or both of you are in attendance this fall at the annual 8th Civics Conquer the Dragon meet, I strongly urge you to introduce yourself to me so that I can arrange to have my wife give you a driving lesson or two!

There is no way somebody in a classic Mini can stay with a new-gen MINI Cooper S on the Dragon! I know that this video would have been pretty boring if the driver in the lead MINI was applying half-assed driving skills! All you would see is the pathetic lane-violating path of the wanker in the classic Mini who was "Balls to the Wall!" LOL This guy would scare himself sh**less driving a new Civic Si!

Wow! I just have to say that I've seen a lot of in-car videos from the Tail of the Dragon, but this is, by far, the worst display of driving ability yet! I can't believe that anybody would be so shameless to post such a thing!

PS: PM me and I'll tell you what I REALLY think!
Interesting yet rude reply. Yes, I know the guy following me was out of his lane. I indicated that in my post, which you quoted. I was not trying to leave him behind, as he is my friend. Please post a dragon video where a 1969 Civic CVCC keeps up with any modern Si w/o cheating and I'll be impressed. Of course it is possible to leave a "classic" Mini in the dust, but it was not the point of that run. His first comment was "I shouldn't be allowed to have a license." And, for him (driving a car with 12 inch wheels) it was "balls to the wall".

Are you one of those bad example Honda owners? Someone who thinks his car is faster than anything on the road and thinks he can out-drive anyone, but has never actually raced (e.g., autocross, track or closed road course - drags and street racing don't count).

He is probably the most qualified person on this board to have made that post (and he's not a Honda owner).

so i was thinking tonight....

all i have is intake, tb spacer, and exhaust as far as performance mods.

what do you guys think I should try to do before we all attack the dragon. I was thinking like suspension, but i prob don't have the money to spend on it right now and do it right.

then i was thinking a sway bar for the rear.

or maybe tires but then i'm not sure which ones and i would want to get my rims at the same time and that prob wouldn't happen before the dragon.

not sure as i am an aviation mechanic and suspensions and general handling upgrads are not something we really worry about so this is my weak area in cars.

any suggestions?

Not that you know ETF or anything about him but he knows a thing or two about roadracing and autox.

Bad example of a Honda owner??? no, just a person that is pissed cause you buddy is the reason why TN has extra police on the force to go patrol the Dragon.

ok well alot of us have been to the dragon w/ stockies and from personal experience, you dont want to run your stock tires up there. they suck. they make too much noise, every turn= SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH. and brake pads and fluid, will just help because you are gonna be hard on your brakes up there :)

k well brakes and fluid i may be able to do. tires though we'll see. i want to do them when i do my rims. so this all depends on my cash flow.

i guess if i can't do it then i will just take it easy on the dragon.

ty guys.

lol and i don't think you will hear my tires over the skunk2 70mm with no silencer

Last year, before we came to 8CCD II, I switched out my stock brake components for a setup that I researched and was very pleased with the results.

I got my rotors here:

I mated the rotors with Carbotec AX6 pads frt & rear.

I replaced my stock brake fluid with ATE Blue Brake Fluid. ATE also offers the same fluid in an amber color so if you alternate the colors between system flushes you'll always know that you got all of the old fluid out. Isn't that cool!

You will be impressed how much this will improve your braking performance and at places like the Dragon, your brakes will be able to withstand the increased braking temps with no problem.

See ya in September!
