I'm going to stress this year more than in years past about having fun without being stupid and not considering your ability to keep up with the car in front of you a measure of manhood. Also, this post belonged in the "chat thread" where it has now been moved. It gets more difficult for me to figure out what's going on when the "I'll be there" thread is cluttered with off-topic posts that generate a bunch of replies. Quote:

Are you one of those bad example Honda owners? Someone who thinks his car is faster than anything on the road and thinks he can out-drive anyone, but has never actually raced (e.g., autocross, track or closed road course - drags and street racing don't count). |

so i was thinking tonight....
all i have is intake, tb spacer, and exhaust as far as performance mods. what do you guys think I should try to do before we all attack the dragon. I was thinking like suspension, but i prob don't have the money to spend on it right now and do it right. then i was thinking a sway bar for the rear. or maybe tires but then i'm not sure which ones and i would want to get my rims at the same time and that prob wouldn't happen before the dragon. not sure as i am an aviation mechanic and suspensions and general handling upgrads are not something we really worry about so this is my weak area in cars. any suggestions?

ok well alot of us have been to the dragon w/ stockies and from personal experience, you dont want to run your stock tires up there. they suck. they make too much noise, every turn= SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH. and brake pads and fluid, will just help because you are gonna be hard on your brakes up there :)

k well brakes and fluid i may be able to do. tires though we'll see. i want to do them when i do my rims. so this all depends on my cash flow.
i guess if i can't do it then i will just take it easy on the dragon. ty guys. lol and i don't think you will hear my tires over the skunk2 70mm with no silencer

Last year, before we came to 8CCD II, I switched out my stock brake components for a setup that I researched and was very pleased with the results.
I got my rotors here: I mated the rotors with Carbotec AX6 pads frt & rear. I replaced my stock brake fluid with ATE Blue Brake Fluid. ATE also offers the same fluid in an amber color so if you alternate the colors between system flushes you'll always know that you got all of the old fluid out. Isn't that cool! You will be impressed how much this will improve your braking performance and at places like the Dragon, your brakes will be able to withstand the increased braking temps with no problem. See ya in September! E.T. Foss |
