Yeah, I didn't want to use up all my vacation time in Sept. Still have a few weeks to plan for... and ot too... wee hee...

I just got off the phone with Pizzeria Venti in Vonore, TN about possibly having our lunch there on Saturday during our big drive of the Tail of the Dragon/Cherohala Skyway loop. The manager said they could hold up to 80 people and they have plenty of parking so it is a good possibility we'll eat there. Also, it will likely be less than $10 per person which is cheaper than the $14 we paid last year at Bistro by the River. Also, I won't have to collect money ahead of time which was a pain in the @$$.

In the map below, Vonore is in the upper left corner of the map and we drive right by the restaurant while on US-411. More than likely, we'll go clockwise around the loop and, according to Google maps, it is about 2-1/2 hours into the loop. It's easier going clockwise around the loop than counter clockwise because you're making mostly right turns rather than left turns. We may divide up among the different overlooks on the Cherohala Skyway for pictures since I doubt any of them will be big enough to hold all of our cars and meet back up in a central location around Tellico Plains.
