If your car is manual you will be ok, my car was one of the only 3 R18s last year and i think i did good during the dragon runs, but there was a sedan auto and he slow everyone down lol, am sure the people behind him where piss lol. so if you have an auto make sure to stay at the back of the pack.

Even in second you may not hit vtec all that much. Depends on how you or your group are driving. On our night runs (Nomar, Cookstar, TheCamryGuy, and myself) we were typically cornering very hard, accelerating pretty hard, but often we would limit our top speeds just for safety's sake. Braking was also what I might describe as "mild" which really means not going full brakes. Though it was still enough to make them fry to the point people two cars back can smell them. If you accelerate all the way from corner to corner on some of them you will be going pretty fast. Those kinds of speeds next to a cliff and national park full of animals and a tow truck/ambulance is at least an hour away, well it makes me a bit apprehensive so there are probably times you will be holding back on the straighter sections. Remember we are out to have fun, not to set new records. It's an awesome road but it is still a road. Stay within your car's and your own limits. Last edited by Gonzo; 04-05-2008 at 01:47 AM. |

u can stay in 2nd gear the whole road.. there might of been a couple times where i had to shift into 3rd and then back down to 2nd into the corner again.. but i stayed in between 4000rpm and 8200rpm for 11 miles.. thats fun.. yeah the first couple times i took it easy and then i let her loose. we have some good cars, even though civic_pride was scared shitless in my car cuz my tires made alot of noise, we had some great runs on that road, except for that damn cobalt on our side of the road on that first night run, remember that cookstar? i was behind you for that one lol
oh and the fastest, the hardest i pushed my car, i think i got it up to like 62mph, dont drive fast if u dont think u can control it, u have to have alot of trust in your car and some experience on the dragon, it can and will bite you fast and hard., you have to know what your car can and cant do... but thats pretty much as fast as you are gonna go on this road, i'm not telling anyone to speed because i know its illegal and dangerous, it is kinda scary though up there, one side of the road is straight up the mountain, other side is straight off the mountain, just focus on the road, know when to brake, know when to let off the gas, know when to accelerate again, shit even doing 30mph the whole time, you will still have a blast. just keep it slow the first couple times so u can get a feel for the road, stay on your side of the road too! If you just keep it on D2 it will be like second on the manuals so you will be ok, but am not sure if driving 11 miles on D2 at high rpms will be good for the auto tranny or not.
