They said that it has to do with how non-stock 6.5 speakers will not mount properly. I've checked this forum for hours to try to find more info on sedans to no avail. Is there anyone here who has successfully installed 6.5 inch speakers in the rear?

I've successfully installed a set 6.5" Pioneer coaxial speakers at the rear without any problems. The trick is to elevate the speaker just a little bit (about half an inch) during mounting. You can use an mdf board for this purpose. In my DIY, since I wont be using the grills that came with the pioneer speakers, I used the frame that holds the grill as a spacer instead. This way, I didn't have to destroy the stock speakers just to use its frame for mounting my replacement speakers. I also didn't have to drill additional holes as the 3 holes that holds the stock speakers in place falls exactly aligned to the existing holes on the replacement speaker.

BTW, i have a 2007 Civic 4-door sedan.
